Colin Kaepernick will opt out of contract with 49ers
SB Nation ^ | Mar 1, 2017, 9:31am EST | James Brady

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s agents informed all 32 teams yesterday that the 29-year-old quarterback will opt out of his contract, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Kaepernick can't officially exercise the opt-out clause until March 2. He has to do it between March 2 and March 7. That prevents the 49ers from franchise tagging him.

He will be on a roster next season; bet on it. He has “upside” and “burst” and “makes plays with his feet and is a “fast twitch athlete” and a bunch of other bull$h!T. He’s a crappy player, a crappy person, and perfect for the NFL.

“That prevents the 49ers from franchise tagging him.”

Like that was ever going to happen?

Franchise tag? LOL!

He’s opting out now when more teams are in the market for a QB rather than waiting for the Niners to cut him in July when most teams will have their QBs and backups in place.

He would make $19 million this year if he would stick with SF. That wasn’t going to happen.

Maybe some team would put up with his BS and pay him 14 million if the Niners were 14-2 last year. 2-14 (with one win he didn’t play), not so much.

“He will be on a roster next season”

He will be on a roster, you’re right...probably for $3-4 million a year...he’s good enough for a placeholder or back up...no team will tie their future to this ***hole!

Trying to avoid a Franchise Tag that he would never, in a million years, receive.

That’s funny right there. I don’t care who you are.

I don’t think there’s another team that will have him at any price. He’s bad for business.

I suspect he’d be more comfortable playing for Damascus or Mogadishu.

Stay the hell away from the Jets.

In fact...I hope every team passes on him and he ends up in the CFL or something.

“opt out”

Yeah. Right.

One thing’s for sure though, Colin has sure been getting some REALLY BAD advice from his muzzie GF.

The Jets better not even THINK IT!

I know what most of you guys think about NJ/NY, but the football fans are not snowflakes.

Many of them are conservative. Some of them are liberal. A number of them are insane.

This would be a REALLY REALLY BAD move.

Or good if you want to see the stadium ripped apart the first time he kneels.

Woody can kiss his UK Ambassador position goodbye if he does that.

Although, these are the Jets we're talking about. Just say 'no' to Kaepernick .. and Tony Romo, too, for that matter!

One suspects that even with America-hating weasel Kaepernick out of the picture, the niners (or the NFL, for that matter) will never, ever live his malignant impact down.

I would not be sad if the 49rs came in second for every game they play.

(Truth told, I didn't care for the team any hoo. The bay area is a petri dish.)

“I hope he becomes a ditch digger!”

granite countertop installer and insurance salesman has always been a popular second career around these parts for lower-level retired NFL footballers.
