My first thoughts:

Gout?
Peripheral neuropathy?
Morton’s Foot?

There are several conditions that make hard-sided shoes uncomfortable for long periods of standing. I’m not a billionaire. I wear sheepskin slippers with a hard sole unless I have to go to town ($60). If it isn’t winter or slippery, I wear SAS moccasin-styled tie shoes, which have soft sides. ($100 on sale). $79 Tevas in summer. I have peripheral neuropathy and a Morton’s Foot Syndrome.

I really like his shoes. Wish I could afford them.

Morton’s Foot Syndrome

Is that the one where the second toe is longer than the big toe?
