U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday said he would not back slashing State Department funding as the Trump administration is expected to propose, adding that deep cuts would not pass the legislative chamber.
Speaking to reporters, McConnell also said Republicans, who control both the Senate and the House of Representatives, are still not in agreement on a healthcare plan to replace Obamacare.

The cancer (GOP RINOS) is still prevalent within the US Senate. Many of these bums are beholden to their donors.
Turtle not curious how State managed to make payroll when Obama and Hillary Clinton stole $6,000,000,000. Is that $6 billion? Because Mitch and his party never worried back then about State not having enough money.
Just who spends/pockets all that cash sent to the State Dept? Was that $6 billion used as “walking around” money all over the Capitol?
The DOS mysteriously “lost” 8 billion dollars under Clinton and can’t accept a budget to make it more manageable. Something smells here.
Money going to third world crap holes is the easiest to steal.
When the debt ceiling is reached Mr. Trump can slash at will. Mwhahahahaha. (rubbing hands together)
I still say Alison Grimes was the lesser evil after KY failed to Cantorize Yertle with Matt Bevins.
A permanent hiring & promotion freeze, restructuring, etc. will go a long way toward that objective.
I feared only one thing when Trump got elected. If he is ultimately stymied then it proves changing the status quo run by the establishment is not possible using non violent means. This is scary stuff.
Have you come up with a new wrinkle, a way around the current ban on the line item veto?
Members of congress leave as millionaires.
Isn’t the state department part of the executive branch? Doesn’t the President therefore determined their funding?
Not a “pussy,” he is protecting his income.
OK, put it in the budget...then Trump can simply not spend it. And the poor Congress critters get the same haircut when their graft dries up by Executive action.
“A few weeks ago Mitch was going on and on about the desperate need to cut government spending and get the budget under control.”
He has a lifetime of saying things like that and never intending to actually do it.
Then along comes Wild Bill Trump, and hey...everything has changed.
