GOP senator: Trump budget 'dead on arrival' (Lindsey Graham)
The Hill ^ | 02/28/17 12:43 PM EST | Sylvan Lane

Sen. Lindsey Graham

(R-S.C.) said Tuesday that President Trump’s first budget was “dead on arrival” and wouldn’t make it through Congress.

“It's not going to happen,” said Graham, according to NBC News. “It would be a disaster."

Graham, a frequent Trump critic, expressed concerns with Trump’s proposed cuts to the State Department budget, especially the targeting of foreign aid.

Trump will propose $54 billion in cuts to fund an equivalent boost in defense spending, White House officials said Monday. The administration will make massive cuts from the Environmental Protection Agency and State Department, even though both of their budgets combined barely come close to the Trump’s proposed defense hike. Graham said significant State Department cuts would endanger American Foreign Service officers.

"A budget this lean would put those who serve overseas for the State Department at risk,” said Graham. “And it's not going to happen."

Trump’s first budget proposal, slated to be released March 16, lacks key details but is already stoking bipartisan concern.

Senate Foreign Relations Committee members in both parties have spoken out against Trump’s proposed foreign aid cuts, defending the necessity of funding development projects in needy nations.

I bet Trump is more likely to shutdown the government and blame Republicans than even Obama. They should be scared

Getting harder each day to tell the difference between Miss Lindsey and its rat counterpart Chuckie the tearful Clown!

Was the Clown Chuckie recently seen leaving the back door of a NYC AIDS clinic?

Good.

Let the Republicans define themselves as the party of big, wasteful spenders.

Then let the electoral chips fall where they may.

Little Lindsey is representing the party he thinks he represents -- the Left/Democrats.

I bet this little puffer couldn't wait to use this Democrat/Left expression against President Trump.

Yep I remember every Reagan budget being declared DOA. However it was the “out of the closet” liberal democrats who made this statement, it usually didn’t come from an alleged “conservative Republican”, from South Carolina no less.

If the SC GOP doesn’t get their act together and close the primary process they are going to be stuck with this little turd until he assumes room temperature. Prediction the SC GOP will do NOTHING.

Is he tone deaf, stupid or both? Cutting foreign spending needs to happen NOW. Use a scalpel or a machete approach, but start cutting the burden on U.S. taxpayers right NOW.

...

My guess is that’s a time honored way to steal money and funnel money to cronies. Whatever happened to all the money that was supposed to go to Haiti?

Trump can do CRs. Trump is not going to sign a budget bill that funds the BS.

When will South Carolina ditch this Cheap Labor Express stooge? He/she is a Democrat in an R jersey and an enemy of the citizens who spends more time arming jihadists and working for amnesty for illegal aliens and their employers than doing anything helpful for the nation.

We're trying, believe me.

Open primaries are a big problem here in SC. The RATS cross over and make sure linda wins the primary. Then they cross over in the general to make sure she gets elected.

Hard to fight aginst that. And linda, of course, is loving it.

I still say that PRESIDENT TRUMP should have ‘found’ a cabinet position for Graham & McCain, and the first stumble fire them. Their Senate replacement couldn’t really be much worse and more likely be an R NOT RINO -
with these two it is like them getting to pick their gender every morning..

[[Is he tone deaf, stupid or both?]]

Vindictive- He and McCain- they couldn’t be president, so they are taking it out on trump- they feel they were robbed of ‘their rightful place as president’ - after all, they put in a grueling number of years sitting at a desk doing nothing nearly 5 months a year (or however long they actually ‘work’- they take a tremendous amount of time off)- they ‘earned it’

Stupid comment by a stupid establishment clown.

The State Department does need funding for both steady state consular operations, and “soft power” (things like USAID, humanitarian aid, etc...).

However, don’t tell me that Foggy Bottom isn’t ripe for some significant cuts to programs, offices, and positions that have not provided any identifiable and measurable (either quantitatively or qualitatively) success.

Trump’s budget, like all budgets, is the opening salvo in the annual budget debate. (Which we skipped for the past EIGHT YEARS) For a GOP Senator to declare it “dead on arrival” is akin running up the white flag before the enemy even shows up on the battlefield.

Stupid comment from a stupid man.
