White House press secretary Sean Spicer is reportedly ramping up security measures to try to prevent leaks. The effort includes checks of both government-issued and personal electronic devices for White House staffers, according to Politico.
Politico reported that details of a meeting with several of Spicer's communications staffers had been leaked.
He reportedly assembled the group in his office, where he conducted the phone checks, monitored by White House attorneys, and discussed his frustrations with the leaks that have been revealed in news reports.
He also warned his staffers about leaking the details of the phone checks and new security measures.
During the same meeting, Spicer chided his staff for using encrypted messaging apps, such as Confide and Signal, that automatically delete messages and violate the Federal Records Act, according to the report.

Troll them, identify them, fire them, and prosecute them -in that order.
If they are using those programs, any decent hacker should be able to probe and identify the devices that have them installed. Take it from there.
At that level absolutely NO PERSONAL DEVICES ALLOWED!!! Only govey approved and purchased equipment should be carried and used by the staff!! This needs to be checked at security coming into the buildings.
BINGO!!! Call them into a meeting, bring in security, direct all staffers to touch and face the wall, take and check all devices. Any unapproved apps is immediate termination!! This should be randomly performed frequently!!
But they could of course still leak as soon as they leave the building.
They certainly now know not to bring phones with said apps in to work.
It is?? too bad. Sounds like something President Reagan would have “tweeted”... :oD
Yeah...check the name....Sean SPICIER.
NSA should be on them 24/7 for a while.
Give them a lie detector test. If they refuse to take it, fire them.
I had to take one to get hired at a high end luxury apparel store. The need for one at the WH exceeds the one I had to take.
All high level White House staff, and all staff who have access to TS-SCI, should be polygraphed yearly.
If they fail they should lose their position and be investigated. If they are convicted of leaking classified information they should be shot. This isn’t complicated.
True, I’m just disgusted with the traitors. I realize that while all the contention is going on President Trump is hard at work MAGA.
Since it seems that most of the concern trolls don't donate to FR (FReeloaders like to act relevant while not ever investing anything of themselves in what they claim to believe in), I would like to remind you that we are in a FReepathon and the following link can help one be useful - and relevant...
Factoid: Many thousands post to FR and only hundreds donate - then folks bitch when there's a glitch...ironic, no?
Understood.
I think half his problem was letting the GOPe in to run things—they are not his friends.
Yep. Could also just as well have tipped off his team on his staff re: the cell phone check.
And really Spicer’s not doing a thing that Priebus and Ryan don’t want. All the VP’s staff suspect too.
The single biggest mistake Trump has made IMO is Priebus, because he’s populated the admin with GOPe types, who of course are not loyal to Trump.
