When they brought William “Ryan” Owens home, the Navy SEAL was carried from a C-17 military plane in a flag-draped casket, onto the tarmac at Dover Air Force Base, as President Donald Trump, his daughter, Ivanka, and Owens’ family paid their respects. It was a private transfer, as the family had requested. No media and no bystanders, except for some military dignitaries. Owens’ father, Bill, had learned only a short time before the ceremony that Trump was coming. Owens was sitting with his wife, Marie, and other family members in the solemn, living room-like space where the loved ones of the fallen assemble before they are taken to the flight line.
“I’m sorry, I don’t want to see him,’’ Owens recalled telling the chaplain who informed him that Trump was on his way from Washington. “I told them I don’t want to meet the President.”
It had been little more than 24 hours since six officers in dress uniform knocked on the door to Owens’ home in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. It was not yet daylight when he answered the door, already knowing in the pit of his stomach what they had come to tell him.

The father of this fine SEAL is a fool.
This is just my personal observation but in the past several years all of the SEALs that I have read about who were killed were 35-37 years old. Its like the NFL you get to a certain age and you lose a step.
I think that they are letting these guys stay in too long. Its not like being in the regular Military on a ship or a base. Its so much more dangerous and physically and mentally challenging.
The President is not in the situation room during every Seal or Delta force raid. Many are never made public.
I read somewhere that the target had been alerted to the mission, ‘to proceed on a moonless night’. So he would have been alerted anytime there was a new moon. And yes, it was originally planned under Obama.
We don’t know if there was a leak.
My guess would be that if there was a leak, the enemy would have moved from that location long before the raid.
Sometimes, the enemy is smart and figures out that something is up. They aren’t all stupid.
The Commander of the operation knew that their secrecy had been compromised. He chose to continue the mission.
It has also been reported that our forces landed five miles from the objective.
Once a SEAL is out of the Osprey/helicopter/parachute he is moving at a walk. They had to hump five miles to get to the objective.
Some things just not right about the planning and conduct of this mission.
Is McCain the leak? I wouldn’t put it past him. ........................ How can you say that, didn’t you hear the broadcast from NVN, where he told us how well treated he was by the enemy, fine medical treatment, good food, comfortable conditions, bleeeeech. I wouldn’t put anything past him either, however he did choose a great running mate that gave him more votes than he would have received otherwise. Too bad they couldn’t switch the ticket, he would have made a better VP than Biden and we would have had a great 1st woman president. Trump is fighting a huge wave, both Democrats, Republicrats and Crazies. I hope he kicks ass, and rids us of the politically corrupt Alpha Hotels who would sell us out to fill their own pockets. I can understand the father’s feelings, he’s been hurt in the worst possible manner, especially if it was his only son. Where was the Press for Doughty and Woods? Did Hillary ever apologize to the families face to face? Don’t expect it, in Hillary’s world they are deplorables.
I just think that if you know that the SEALs know where you live, you would move immediately.
I notice the article references the helicopter ‘crash’ (shootdown) where 17 SEALs died in 2011, after the Bin Laden raid. I wonder if it crossed this father’s mind that it was a bit odd that so many SEALs were on the same helicopter? I guess there’s no questioning those you support.
All three Paki IT brothers were in place before this raid and one of the three was in place prior to the Extortion 17 shoot down.
A bigger problem is somehow the enemy knew we were coming.
This grieving father is to be pitied for his bitterness. It’s clear that he’s holding on to Democratic talking points from the election which only makes his grief worse. Sorry friend but you are not the President and you don’t have the right to second guess the President. May the Lord give you peace in this matter and healing of your grief.

To me he sounded like the “9/11 happy widows” who used the 9/11 disaster to bash Bush. They were merely partisan bitches. This guy is also so partisan he is using his son’s death to further his own hatred of Republicans.
