“Taking a construction job away from a citizen” implies that there was a US citizen working that got fired and replaced by this guy. As someone who has been in construction for forty years, I can tell you that is not true. Our nation has a skilled labor shortage as it is, and if you remove immigrant construction workers from the labor pool you will see a market collapse and skyrocketing prices in housing and many other sectors of the economy. This notion that there are plenty of Americans who are willing to take these jobs if only they were paid enough is a myth. Many of these jobs pay $60,000 to $100,000 a year and companies can’t find any applicants that can pass the background checks and drug tests that they require. Our country lacks willing workers, but our cup overflows with young Americans who can’t pass a drug test or a criminal background check.

If this guy was checking in like he was ordered to, we are focusing on the wrong “criminals”. When we have violent felon illegals committing crimes and we spend our attention deporting guys who self report to a required meeting, we will start losing public support for Trump’s policies.

Then hire a non-citizen who is in the country LEGALLY! No E’fn way I will support illegal aliens for any job here at any time. They are here illegally and are being rewarded for it.

And I don’t buy your explanation simply because you were in the construction industry. Furthermore your assertion that there are jobs worth $60,000 to $100,000 that NO AMERICAN CITIZEN WILL TAKE IS JUST HORSESH!T.

He had an outstanding Vamoose Order. Close enough.

You pay $100k a year to illegal day laborers? I don't think I'll be investing in your business. Sounds like the wrong guy is in charge.

You didn’t read the part about when he became “an immigration fugitive” then, did you?

Maybe you could tell that to my son in law. Worked for two different companies, one for three years and one for four years. Both times he was let go and they hired Mexicans.

I think it’s likely true to some extent that Americans won’t do many of these jobs, precisely because of our massive welfare state. My theory is that when food stamps are actually scaled back and able bodied people start getting hungry, we may be surprised at how many Americans might be willing to do these jobs.

Pure bullshit! A lot of high school and college students worked construction jobs. Summer being the peak construction period...

Now you're lucky to be able to understand even the best English speaking Mexican on a job.

AND to suggest Mexican workers are drug and alcohol free is pure fantasy if not an outright lie.

Oh yea and earning $60,000 to $100,000 yr...MY ASS! Mexicans living 4 families to a house with broken down cars parked on the front lawn aren't earning $60,000 to $100,000 yr.

If you’ve been in the
construction business
for forty years, then you
can probably remember
a time when almost all
construction workers were
White, Black, or Asian.
(I used to hang Sheetrock
in California in the late
60’s/early 70’s). There
was a housing boom in
areas like Petaluma.
You didn’t need a background
check or drug test back then.
Most young guys “coming up”
we’re broke in by the guys
who had been in their
respective trades long
enough to become
journeymen. It is the cheap
labor express that has
gradually taken over, with
most contractors trying to
keep their labor costs
down and their profits high
enough to make a decent
living and pay their bills.
This illegal did steal
someone else’s job. Plus,
he probably had ample time
to apply to become a
assimilated US citizen.
I think things will level
out, and you’ll start
seeing eligible workers
applying for those jobs
once all the illegals have
been rounded up and
deported.

I find it VERY hard to believe that with 95+ million underemployed or unemployed that construction can’t find US citizens to do the work and at that price. And with clean backgrounds.
