It would be very interesting to look into what, if any, gov’t checks this guy was cashing.
For one thing, on a laborer’s wages, plus dependents, he’d most certainly be getting EITC in the range of several thousands of dollars. Add to that a very-likely SNAP use, possibly his ‘wife’ getting Section 8 vouchers and the like and you have all the signs, IMO.
