When my children were 13 and 10, respectively, and when we would go to the mall as a family to shop, I would walk into Macy's or Sears or whatever store, walk up to one of the mannequins and start a conversation with the mannequin. The wife would simply roll her eyes and keep walking as if she did not know any of us. My two children thought that I was the funniest and coolest dad on the planet. They would laugh themselves silly as I made it seem like the mannequin was answering me. Of course, everyone else in the store would look at all of us as if we had lost our minds.
After several years of this nonsense and every time we went to the mall I would always start a conversation with the very first mannequin in the store.
But then one day something happened. We went into a department store and I started a conversation with a mannequin. My 16-year-old daughter said, "DADDY! What are you doing? Please stop that! You're embarrassing me! What if one of my friends sees us and sees you talking to a mannequin?" My 13-year-old son simply shook his head, rolled his eyes and mumbled something.
I simply do not understand it. Perhaps one or more of the Canteen divas can clue me in as to what happened to my daughter and son!

Good evening/morning, spel, and thank you for the Friday Night Edition of the Salsa Addiction Emergency Room! ((HUGS))
Your kids grew up, sort of....probably at that middle “age” where parents weren’t to be seen or heard “in case a friend would see them”. Usually as they grow older, and have kids, it becomes funny again. Remember, Dad, when you talked to mannequins...that was too funny. d:o)
