WASHINGTON -- A St. Louis congressman filed a federal lawsuit today in the removal of a student painting depicting a police officer with a boar-type head, charging the Architect of the U.S. Capitol Stephen Ayers with suppressing the artist's First Amendment rights.
"Davids painting was wrongly disqualified and removed from the public exhibit at the direction of the Architect of the Capitol who shamefully chose to retroactively censor and suppress Mr. Pulphus artwork in response to the enormous political pressure he experienced from the speaker of the House and certain right-wing media outlets," Rep. Wm. "Lacy" Clay (D-Mo.) said today outside of the E. Barrett Prettyman U.S. Courthouse. "We contend that action was unfair, arbitrary and unconstitutional."
The annual Congressional Institute art competition solicits entries from high school students each spring. Students submit works of art to their congressional offices, and teams of artists representing the district pick the winners, which are displayed

I never heard of Rep. Wm. "Lacy" Clay (D-Mo.) before.
But when I read this I knew racial whining was involved.
And I was right.
He’s following in his papa’s footsteps. Rep Clay the senior was as slimy as could be.....(I lived in the St. Louis area while he was in congress —despicable character and the nut didn’t fall far from the tree.)
You’re absolutely right. I know the Senate offices have Senator only elevators, I assume the Rayburn House Office Building does too. Hang the “artwork” in the elevator so all his fellow congressmen can see it daily and remember what a slob this guy is.
Be sure it has a nameplate that reads “Compliments of Rep Lacy Clay”
Two stories in the news today indicate an organized race war in STL MO.
1. Hillary and the Jewish cemetery vandalism.
2. Rep Clay reinitiates his fight over the racial painting.
ASTROTURF STORM is brewing.
Someone needs to make a NEW painting of this dirtbag porking a goat, and post it there. Then let’s see what happens.
the painting was in clear violation of the guidelines established for the exhibition of art in that building.
Total b.s., no one has the “right” to have their “art” (sic) displayed in the US Capitol. The guy’s constitutional freedoms are not infringed upon at all. Crazy what libturds will try to sue over....
These people are insane.
Had me fooled, with a name like David. If it had been Jay’qwan I would have had a clue.
Exactly.
My brother-in-law is an artist; if he were to submit a painting that depicted blacks as a bunch of hooting chimps then he has no right to complain — given their behavior as of late, that would be a fair and accurate depiction thereof.
There should be a painting of HIM with a chimpanzee head. Free speech.
