Excellent choice. During Operation Desert Storm McMaster was in command of an armored unit that shot the Iraqi Republican Guard Talwakana Armored Division to pieces at the Battle of 73 Easting.
The American Hero’s Channel (formerly the Military Channel) did a full hour interview and CGI reenactment of 73 Easting. It was impressive. The interviews included McMaster’s CO at the time, don’t remember his name. Said McMaster’s tanks were in the lead entering a sand storm and encountered the Iraqi tanks. The CO said all he could hear and see was continuous cannon fire and muzzle flashes. He was pissed at McMaster for getting into without him. He eventually changed his mind when he saw what was going on... Lol
What the hell are you talking about?
Not to detract from McMaster’s fine performance in combat, but you raise a great point about the superiority of the M-1 tank over the Iraqi tanks. I would add that American tankers were also finely trained, as well as finely led.
American Armor units cut through Iraqi units across the board.
I had a friend who was an Armor Company Commander when we crossed the line of departure. They had a primary and a secondary objective designated. A tertiary had been assigned, just to check that box on the planning checklist.
When they came upon their primary, they could see and engage the enemy, before the enemy could even see them. They fanned out, and were well drilled in dividing targets among themselves, so everyone kept busy. The stabilized guns and sights on their tanks allowed them to fire with great accuracy, while driving fast, off road. By the time they got to their objective (at a full charge), every enemy vehicle and emplacement was already destroyed, so they just swept the area with machine guns and drove on.
They were sitting on their tertiary objective so fast, it had everybody’s head spinning. No losses, no equipment failures.
Saweeeet!!!
This is a super pick.
I know you view Bolton more favorably than I, but I’m thankful we have McMaster and hope he’s willing to do some serious housecleaning.
I don’t hate Bolton, I just am unconvinced his world view is correct, (though none can be, fully).
Fingers crossed that this is the start of the next page. President Trump has now had a month to discover just how murky and polluted the swamp is. Now, he should have a feeling about who he can definitely trust, get rid of the traitor sewage, and make excellent appointments.
Oh yea, all that. But he is a bit light on “national security” unlike Flynn who was an expert. I think retention of K T McFarland (female) will make them an effective team if they work together. We do not want a show boat as the president’s personal advisor on national security. They have to know/learn what is going on and effectively advise how to deal with it.
McMaster is THE MAN.
As a Cav Troop Commander (6 M1A1 Tanks and 9 APCs) he took on and killed a reinforced Armor brigade + of an Iraqi Republican Guard Division!
His losses? Zero!
“He was pissed at McMaster for getting into without him.”
That’s a fighter for you.
“He eventually changed his mind when he saw what was going on...”
And that’s an intelligent fighter.
Actually, he was only a Captain (O-3) when he whipped up on the Iraqi Republican Guard.
He also wrote “Dereliction of Duty”, which is absolutely the best book ever on the colossal McNamara, Johnson, JCS and everyone else involved total fubar run up to RVN that got 50,000 Americans killed there.
“I am so relieved that Trump rejected Bolton.”
Yes indeed!
“But he is a bit light on national security unlike Flynn who was an expert.”
I’ve seen a few experts, and some of them were complete idiots. It seems to me like intelligence, common sense, and courage will take him where he needs to go.
A warrior with real battlefield experiece. I think he will do quite well.
Even a blind squirrel finds a good nut once in a while.
Is there another on line store that has books and other items from multiple departments for sale? I’d be happy to use it, if there is.
Otherwise, we live in a little town of 3000, and the nearest bookstore is 80 miles away.
Dr. Gorka, who knows him well, just said that he REALLY likes this guy; which is good enough for me.
When I lived in Japan I found other places to order books.
I understand that Amazon can be very convenient.
