You all are correct, the only comparison is there is no comparison between LBJ and Trump...different worlds, different times, different agenda.

LBJ was a professional politician....Trump the opposite.

LBJ was chosen as a party hack to balance a ticket and became the heir apparent when Kennedy was assassinated.

Trump was chosen by the public without party assistance.

After looking at the stupid survey that had Obama filled in as 12th best president ever, I knew it was a sham.

Fund's Never Trump mind is a lost cause. This is not even Fake News. It is a muttering from the insane mind of Fund!

Not really 'Fake News' - this is simply ‘Non News’!

Just Fund's wet random druggy dreams posing as fake fake news.

So in conclusion: "This is not even fake news! It's ‘Non News’ from a deeply disturbed mind of a Never Trumpster in total free fall from reality!"

As a human being, he was a miserable person. . . . a bully, sadist, lout, and egotist. His lapses from civilized conduct were deliberate and usually intended to subordinate someone else to his will.

Were there nothing to look at save LBJ’s personal relationships with other people, it would be merciful to forget him altogether. But there is much more to look at. He may have been a son of a bitch, but he was a colossal son of a bitch. . . . Nevertheless, he was capable of inspiring strong attachments even with people who knew him for what he was.

I don’t know just how much of a “miserable person” Donald Trump is.

Project much?

Very good article about LBJ. Missed that it was LBJ that opened the “lock box” of Social Security funds and moved the money into general funds that he could spend on other things.

LBJ was also known to brag about how even the dead people in Texas voted for him to be Senator. He was a well known womanizer, like JFK, who he later served as VP. After passing the Civil Rights legislation giving all the welfare, he was quoted as saying “we’ll have these n*****s voting for Democrats for a hundred years”. ...LBJ has been considered since the JFK killing of having involvement, as the two hated each other; he was only chosen to be VP candidate because JFK wanted to win Texas and similar voters.

Johnson was a psycho who killed JFK to stay out of jail.

He had another excellent motive: to become president.

LBJ put saudi AramCo on the map, along with Halliburton.

Never understand how Ladybird could put up with him.

I believe this is intended to be a hit piece by National Review.

Ya think? Why else compare Trump to probably the most vulgar and crude person to ever hold the office. When Trump starts holding meetings int he same room he's on the crapper, they might, just might be able to make some small comparison.

NRO is really grasping. Where are the bodies of Trump’s victims? I know of none, and surely our great, professional, objective, media (sarcasm off) would have uncovered them by now.

Old Man Johnson had many victims, most notably Henry Marshall of the USDA. The Clintons are much more like LBJ than Trump is. Jackson or Truman are better comparisons with President Trump.

Johnson was a compulsive adulterer who fathered several illegitimate children (most aborted), and a serial murderer. JFK was his dozenth murder victim.

This piece is vile sewage.

Let me count the ways he was just like Johnson.

1. Career politician
2. Had a massive political machine and well established political power
3. Obtained the presidency as V. P. To an assassinated president, thereby falling in under his agenda
4. Didn’t run on his own well stated agenda
5. Didn’t campaign at all for the presidency
6. .....

Well I give up. Other than these obvious comparisons, Trump path as president is nothing like LBJ’s.

And I’ll have to admit, anyone who thinks these five thing fit, should seek help.

Okay, I’ll make clear that I have absolutely no love for LBJ. I thought his “Great Society” program was a mistake that had lasting rammifications and will take quite a long time to undo. I thought his mishandling of Vietnam was also very bad (not to mention him not only ignoring his chief of staff, but also proceeding to curse them out), and he had a whole lot of character flaws that made him unfit for duty. Heck, he may have committed various murders as well. And quite frankly, him dithering when that traitor Walter Cronkite lied on the air to the American public about the results of the Tet Offensive was just inexcusable (and for the record, I only view JFK as being slightly better than him, if only because he DID attempt to commit to Vietnam).

HOWEVER, despite my very low opinion of LBJ, to the extent that I think that he should never have been president, I have a lot of doubts about him being responsible for the JFK assassination. For one thing, Ion Mihai Pacepa, the DIE agent that defected during the Carter administration, made it pretty clear that the KGB and Khrushchev in particular had involvement in the assassination, and in fact, they even created the propaganda that claimed LBJ was responsible. It’s called Operation Dragon. You can read up more in the following links:

And bear in mind, I have absolutely no love for LBJ, so don’t think I’m defending him from accusations of being responsible for JFK’s assassination because I’m a fan of him.
