My husband and I ONLY have FlipPhones, and we are paying for these lazyasses to have IPHONES??? OMG!!
This makes a lot of sense — phones are a necessary part of our society to receive calls for job interviews and in the case of emergencies, especially since pay phones have all but vanished. It was supposed to be a great boost up for people who are out of work, not a permanent free phone.
Sorry I just don’t buy this crap.
Pre-paid phones are pretty cheap these days. This program is no longer needed. If it ever was.
iPhones with 200+ free minutes. Give-away points set up throughout their neighborhoods, few questions asked or answers considered and I have read many have several. Of course, they sell off the extra phones w/their free minutes.
We also have cheap Tracphones and buy minutes as needed. Give them a free landline with no long distance.
Well, at least we’re not paying for the hardware. Oh wait, they steal those. They are multilateral leeches.

Dittos here. We went to see The Intern when it came out. We are in our 60’s. We were sitting in front of a bunch of teenagers. During the scene of deNiro’s first day on the job, where all the young interns were placing all their electronic devices on their desks (including iPhones), deNiro put a flip phone out. The teenagers behind us started giggling. I pulled out my flip phone, held it up, and opened it.
