ICE: Yes, 75 Percent Of Illegal Immigrants We Arrested Have Criminal Records
Townhall.com ^ | February 18, 2017 | Matt Vespa

Over the past couple of days, immigration enforcement agents have round up almost 700 illegal aliens—75 percent of which had criminal records. Rep. Nancy Pelosi disputed the claim, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement also confirmed the figure released by the Department of Homeland Security. IJ Review’s Joe Perticone had more:

The claim that an overwhelming majority of immigrants targeted in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids last week were convicted criminals is correct and backed by hard numbers, despite skepticism from House Democrats.

[…]

Independent Journal Review obtained a copy of the list of various criminal offenses provided to the members by [Acting ICE] Director [Thomas] Homan, which shows that Kelly was correct in his assertion that the crimes were of a severe nature.

There were 161 DUIs, 47 cases of domestic violence, 15 assaults with an aggravated weapon, 15 cases of sex offense/fondling against a child and dozens of other cases of sexual and violent crimes.

In total, 507 of the 683 apprehended immigrants had criminal convictions, on par with Kelly's claim of 75 percent.

The raids have rattled immigration groups, noting that these appear to be harsher than usual. The wheels for these raids were set in motion during the Obama presidency, but it surely captured the spirit of President Trump’s immigration agenda: criminal aliens have got to go. This isn’t a controversial position, folks. Even Democrats agree that illegal aliens who commit violent crimes should go (or at least that's what they say to the press), though they appear to be a bit squishy when it comes to drunk driving.

Most criminal aliens are being “removed”, not “deported”.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1229a

(2) Removable
The term “removable” means—
(A) in the case of an alien not admitted to the United States, that the alien is inadmissible under section 1182 of this title, or
(B) in the case of an alien admitted to the United States, that the alien is deportable under section 1227 of this title.

This an important distinction, similar to “immigrant” versus “illegal alien”. Removals are expedited hearings.
An alien with a green card may be deported while Manuel Labor, with DUIs and misdemeanors, hiding out with a couple dozen others, is simply removed.
The democrats would have us believe these are going to be onerous proceedings: “Let’s just give up.” To the contrary, any illegal who sticks around for a removal on his record can be seat-of-the-pantsed much like night or city court and as economically.

AND:
(4) Alien’s rights in proceeding
In proceedings under this section, under regulations of the Attorney General—
(A) the alien shall have the privilege of being represented, *at no expense to the Government*, by counsel of the alien’s choosing who is authorized to practice in such proceedings,

Better call Saul, Manuel! No free abogado por tu.

I’d like for ANY Indiana Democrat who says that illegals with DUI’s shouldn’t count, tell that to the faces of the family of the 65 yo man that was killed last week here near Indy.

Although she didn’t have priors (that have been disclosed), she had been here 4 years, obviously driving.

Something similar happened to a Canadian friend of my brother, who is a permanent resident. His flight was cancelled on the day of his visa expiration, so they put him in detention overnight to ensure he made his outbound plane. It was a nice facility, actually, and saved him the cost of a hotel. Don't know why your Aussie friend was treated differently.

Something sort of creepy happened to me on my most recent trip there. I have not been a resident since 2002, but on the return flight in December (Haneda), one of the immigration officers came up and greeted me by name and told me my wife and I were cleared to go though the expedited line. They must keep records on former residents.

Anyway, I thanked him but explained that I might set off the metal detector because I was wearing steel toed shoes. He brought me a set of slippers to change into before putting the steel toed shoes on the belt and going through the metal detector. We were through security AND immigration quicker than it takes to move 10 people up in your average American airport with the typical "cattle chute" security set-up.

Why is that?

Mm...wow, that must have been 1993 or so.

They were not venemous about it, though, and several of them apoligized to him for it.

He wasn’t manhandled or anything, but rules are rules, they told him.

Wow, very illuminating.

Meant well, I’m SURE, but....yes I must admit that would probably creep me out, too.

Noted.

The visa would expire the next day? Why not leave a couple of days or even weeks earlier?

700 in several days is far too few. I’d like 1,000 a day for now, and increase that to 10,000 daily once we get the system working to deport illegals the day they are arrested.

Tie the expiration date of visas to the expiration of drivers licenses.

Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants

http://www.usillegalaliens.com/impacts_of_illegal_immigration_crime_summary.html

In recent Testimony of District Attorney John M. Morganelli before the House Subcommittee on immigration, Border, Security and Claims he stated:

“Unfortunately, the majority of illegal aliens who are here are engaged in criminal activity. Identity theft, use of fraudulent social security numbers and green cards, tax evasion, driving without licenses represent some of the crimes that are engaged in by the majority of illegal aliens on a daily basis merely to maintain and hide their illegal status.
In addition, violent crime and drug distribution and possession is also prevalent among illegal aliens. Over 25% of today’s federal prison population are illegal aliens. In some areas of the country, 12% of felonies, 25% of burglaries and 34% of thefts are committed by illegal aliens.”

•In Los Angeles, 95% of some 1,500 outstanding warrants for homicides are for illegal aliens. About 67% of the 17,000 outstanding fugitive felony warrants are for illegal aliens.

•There are currently over 400,000 unaccounted for illegal alien criminals with outstanding deportation orders. At least one fourth of these are hard core criminals.

•80,000 to 100,000 illegal aliens who have been convicted of serious crimes are walking the streets. Based on studies they will commit an average of 13 serious crimes per perpetrator.

•Illegal aliens are involved in criminal activities at a rate that is 2-5 times their representative proportion of the population.

•In 1980, our Federal and state facilities held fewer than 9,000 criminal aliens but at the end of 2003, approximately 267,000 illegal aliens were incarcerated in U.S. correctional facilities at a cost of about $6.8 billion per year.

•At least 4.5 million pounds of cocaine with a street value of at least $72 billion is smuggled across the southern border every year. ..

•56% of illegal aliens charged with a reentry offense had previously been convicted on at least 5 prior occasions.

•Illegal aliens charged with unlawful reentry had the most extensive criminal histories. 90% had been previously arrested. Of those with a prior arrest, 50% had been arrested for violent or drug-related felonies.

•Illegal aliens commit between 700,000 to 1,289,000 or more crimes per year.

•Illegal aliens commit at least 2,158 murders each year – a number that represents three times greater participation than their proportion of the population.

•Illegal alien sexual predators commit an estimated 130,909 sexual crimes each year.

•There may be as many as 240,000 illegal alien sex offenders circulating throughout America. Based on studies, they will commit an average of 8 sex crimes per perpetrator before being caught.

•Nearly 63% of illegal alien sex offenders had been deported on another offense prior to committing the sex crime.

•Only 2% of the illegal alien sex offenders in one study had no history of criminal behavior, beyond crossing the border illegally.

•In Operation Predator, ICE arrested and deported 6,085 illegal alien pedophiles. Some studies suggest each pedophile molests average of 148 children. If so, that could be as many as 900,580 victims.

•Nobody knows how big the Sex Slave problem is but it is enormous.

•The very brutal MS-13 gang has over 15,000 members and associates in at least 115 different cliques in 33 states.

•The overall financial impact of illegal alien crimes is estimated at between $14.4 and $81 billion or more per year. Factor in the crime as a result of the cocaine and other drugs being smuggled in and the number may reach $150 billion per year.

Where does Rubio come off berating Trump for citing FACTS?

[[Congressman Steve King (R-IA) estimates that illegal alien drunk drivers kill 13 Americans every day — that’s a death toll of 4,745 per year.[4]

The 23 percent criminal traffic offenders figure is only part of the overall picture. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, another 23 percent, more than 43,000 illegal aliens, were convicted of drug offenses. The violent crime category of assault, robbery, sexual assault, and family offenses comes to 12 percent. The non-violent crime grouping of larceny, fraud, and burglary totaled seven percent, and on the list goes — equaling 100 percent of illegal aliens who have been through the criminal justice system and inflicted thousands to millions in cost per alien on the system, for issues having nothing to do with their illegal entry into the country]]

OTOH, it at least showed me the Japanese were keeping track out of who is entering and leaving their country. Part of me was also pleased that they knew I was a good and responsible FORMER resident.

It makes me feel that if I qualified for a visa in later years, they would most likely expedite the process based on my known past record.
