House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz on Wednesday asked the DOJ's inspector general Michael Horowitz to investigate the intelligence leaks that led to the ousting of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

"Over the last several days, there have been a series of news articles recounting potentially classified national security information," Chaffetz wrote in a letter, also signed by the chair of the House Judiciary Committee Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.). In the letter Chaffetz expressed concern over "potentially classified national security information" circulated in recent news reports leading up to the resignation of the former national security adviser.

"We have serious concerns about the potential protection of classified information here ... the release of classified information can, by definition, have grave effects on national security. In light of this, we request that your office begin an immediate investigation into whether classified information was mishandled here," the lawmakers wrote.

"No matter where you are on the political spectrum, you cannot have classified information migrating out into a non-classified setting," Chaffetz said during an interview with Fox News on Wednesday.

"Same with Hillary Clinton, same with Donald Trump, and same with those in the intelligence world or at the Department of Justice who get to see this information," the lawmaker said. "They just can’t hand it out like candy and favors to those in the news media. Can't do it." Chaffetz also said the Oversight Committee won't probe the circumstances surrounding Flynn.

The New York Times reported the Clintons' connections thusly: "Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal." Plus Bill Clinton pocketed $500,000 from a Moscow investment bank for a brief speech.

The NYT and Washington Post never reported about Pravda's headline: “Russian Nuclear Energy Conquers the World.” Imagine if a Republican State Department approved such a deal?

In addition, Hillary's campaign chairman, acting as "The Podesta Group" lobbied on behalf of Uranium one, after most of it was owned by Russia.

The inference is to money laundering, perhaps tax evasion. Suggests that Megan Rouse's father, John Podesta, hid stocks connected to Russia. Documents show that Podesta received 75,000 shares of Joule Unlimited Technologies......an outfit which was linked to alleged money laundering by the Russian government, according to media reports.

The Center for American Progress (CAP) was started in 2003 by John Podesta, Bill Clinton's onetime Chief of Staff; Podesta led Obama’s presidential transition team after 2008 and was Hillary’s 2016 campaign chair.

CIRCA 2015 A Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter claims that former President Bill Clinton falsely denied hosting a meeting with Kazakh officials when she tried to write a story that involved his foundation several years ago.

Jo Becker, who works on the newspaper's investigative desk, said Clinton only confirmed the meeting took place after she informed him there were photographs.

Clinton's role in a deal that involved Kazakhstan, the Russian government, and a man who donated millions to the president's charitable foundation were detailed in a story Becker published on Thursday.

That article revisited some of her earlier reporting and included information from the upcoming book "Clinton Cash," which is generating widespread headlines amid a flurry of reports suggesting it will raise serious questions about Clinton's family foundation.

The donor in question is Canadian mining executive Frank Giustra, a longtime friend of the former president who has given tens of millions to the Clinton Foundation in the past few years. (A couple of hours after the NYT story was published, Giustra issued a defiant statement. We've included that below.)

Becker initially wrote about the February 2007 meeting between Clinton, Giustra, and executives from the state-owned nuclear company Kazatomprom in 2008. The gathering took place at Clinton's home in Chappaqua, New York.

"When I first contacted both the Clinton foundation — Mr. Clinton's spokesman — and Mr. Giustra, they denied any such meeting ever took place," Becker recalled in footage aired by Fox News on Thursday.

However, Becker said Clinton and Giustra both changed their stories after she confronted them with evidence to the contrary.

"And then when we told them, 'Well we already talked to the head of Kazatomprom, who not only told us all about the meeting, but actually has a picture of him and Bill at the home in Chappaqua, and that he proudly displayed on his office wall.' They then acknowledged that yes, the meeting had taken place," Becker continued in the television interview.

The purpose of the meeting, then Kazatomprom President Moukhtar Dzhakishev told The Times, was to discuss Kazakhstan potentially buying a 10% stake in Westinghouse, a US nuclear company. Becker's 2008 story also noted one of Giustra's companies secured a deal to buy uranium deposits from Kazatomprom in 2005.

That agreement was made after Clinton accompanied Giustra on a trip to Kazakhstan. During the trip, Giustra and Clinton met with Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Clinton issued a public statement praising the Kazakh leader despite his questionable, antidemocratic record. The Times called the praise a "propaganda coup" for Nazarbayev. (he later "won relection" w/ an unbelievable 90% of the vote)

"Just months after the Kazakh pact was finalized, Mr. Clinton's charitable foundation received its own windfall: a $31.3 million donation from Mr. Giustra that had remained a secret until he acknowledged it last month. The gift, combined with Mr. Giustra’s more recent and public pledge to give the William J. Clinton Foundation an additional $100 million, secured Mr. Giustra a place in Mr. Clinton’s inner circle," wrote Becker and another reporter, Don Van Natta.

A spokesperson for the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership told Business Insider they are "working on a formal statement" in response to a request for comment on Thursday. Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership is an initiative of the Clinton Foundation that was cofounded by Clinton and Giustra in 2007. A Clinton Foundation spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

No, firing everyone in the Intelligence Community is not that simple, nor is it the solution. The president has the authority and the means to use the counterintelligence and insider threat capabilities that already exist to ferret out leakers. Starting with the “Big Five” (NSA, CIA, NRO, DIA and NGA) and the State Department, the president orders that every Schedule C appointee (~4,000 of them) and every SES be polygraphed with a focus on counterintelligence and sedition. Sample questions could include:

“Have you or anyone known to you provided sensitive but unclassified, classified or limited distribution information to anyone not entitled or authorized to receive it?”

“Have you or anyone known to you acted in any way, or colluded with anyone, to undermine the US government or any elected official therein?”

I would make it known that a “mole (or leaker) hunt” is about to begin. As soon as that is known, there will be resignations and those who resign, beginning with the most senior, will be the first targets of any investigations. There will be some who remain and think they can defeat the polygraph. In many cases, the leakers/moles who remain will fail the polygraph with a clear “Deception Indicated” (DI) finding and will be fired prior to being investigated. Some will receive an “Inconclusive” polygraph finding, their access will be terminated (they’ll no longer have access to classified systems) pending another polygraph. If they fail a subsequent polygraph, they’re done. If they continue to receive “Inconclusive” findings, they are likely to resign.

By limiting the number of questions and focusing them on specific counterintelligence- and sedition-related topics, the polygraphs can be done relatively quickly, i.e., in a matter of weeks, but the impact will be immediate.

Trump needs to remove ALL remaining Obama appointees and replace them with his own people via recess appointment until the Senate takes action to confirm the recess appointees to fill the vacant positions permanently (till end of Trumps term).

Recess appointments last for one year and should be enough time for the Senate to act on confirmation. If need be they can be given another recess appointment at the end of the year. Reagan and both Bushes did this to get their people in place sooner, given the slowness of the confirmation process.

He should already have qualified, vetted candidates for the 1,200 + presidential positions that need Senate confirmation already selected. Simply ask these folks to take the jobs now on a recess appointment basis while they work to get them confirmed.

He will have a window to do this soon as the congress recesses. Once congress recesses Trump can fire all remaining Obama appointees and then fill their vacancies with recess appointees. This way he will have critical subcabinet positions staffed with his own people.

As for permanent civil service types he will have to work with Congress to make it easier to get rid of the problem ones.
