PRESIDENT TRUMPS NATIONAL security adviser, Gen. Michael Flynn, was forced to resign on Monday night as a result of getting caught lying about whether he discussed sanctions in a December telephone call with a Russian diplomat. The only reason the public learned about Flynns lie is because someone inside the U.S. government violated the criminal law by leaking the contents of Flynns intercepted communications.
In the spectrum of crimes involving the leaking of classified information, publicly revealing the contents of SIGINT signals intelligence is one of the most serious felonies. Journalists (and all other nongovernmental citizens) can be prosecuted under federal law for disclosing classified information only under the narrowest circumstances; reflecting how serious SIGINT is considered to be, one of those circumstances includes leaking the contents of intercepted communications, as defined this way by 18 § 798 of the U.S. Code:
Whoever knowingly and willfully communicates
or otherwise makes available to an unauthorized person, or publishes
any classified information
obtained by the processes of communication intelligence from the communications of any foreign government
shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.

Bingo!
Re Post #14, I totally agree.
Exactly!!!
You nailed it on the head with the double standards.
I agree and hope he does.
Given the way President Trump operates this ma be a set up to clean house.
As far as I have seen, all the Flynn is alleged to have said about sanctions is to the effect that “we’ll look at that when we are in office.”
Unless there is more than that in the transcripts that I have not seen reported, this whole b.s. comes down to parsing words like “discussed” in misleading ways.
“General Flynn, did you DISCUSS ‘X’??”
“No, I said we would discuss ‘X’ when we are in office”
liberals: OMG OMG OMG, you “discussed” ‘X’ !!!!
If he only “mentioned” sanctions to say that would be a topic for discussion down the road once the Trump admin. was in office, that is NOT what people are thinking when it is alleged over and over that “Flynn discussed the sanctions with the Russian ambassador.”
Even if he HAD discussed sanctions it is all a b.s. issue, but so far I have not seen anything except that he “mentioned” sanctions to way they would be discussed another time.
In which case, it seems absurd that he is accused of “lying” about discussing sanctions - that is not what anyone would think of as a “discussion”.....
I think Flynn got burned by the vicious lying MSM and the Trump team could have done a much much better job of sorting this out at the beginning and making sure they were all on the same page about how to brief the MSM and the public.
Amen and well said!
It is my understanding there is plenty of evidence.
I have a theory that the Left is playing this not just to try to derail or remove Trump, but when criminal investigations start up regarding the last 8 years, they’ll just say that “it’s political, everyone does it”.
A very interesting article by Greenwald.
1. I don’t know if he deliberately lied or forgot or what. That is the only real issue here. Its up to Trump and Pence to determine if that matter justified dismissal. Personally and politically I believe it does not and by giving credence to his culpability, they open the flood gates for more attacks by the animals on the left.
2. Carrying on conversations with his counterpart in Russia is not an issue. Its part of his job and anything he may offered or implied in his communications is fine as long as it in agreement with Trump’s policies.
3. The parties in the intelligence service who deliberately leaked this information to the press to politically damage the President are guilty of sedition and should be not only be fired, but charged and punished to the full extent of the law. We have ALREADY seen how the criminals Lois Lerner, Koskinen, Clapper and Comey have no problem abusing their authority to promote a political agenda.
I never trusted Pence.
Flyn said Islam is cancer posing as a religion. I trust Flynn
Flynn may still have Trump’s ear as a consultant so the GOPe/Shadow Goons/Deep State will have failed to achieve 100% of their goal to remove him. I’ve seen a report about Flynn may go help Tillerson at State.
And if Trump starts to get wind that Pence is being a GOPe mole, he may get iced out. If so, Pence may as well go play golf for the next 4 years.
Flynn may have been the bait, the precursor to the house cleaning. He certainly was in a position to take the enemy’s pulse better than a conservative officer.
It would be nice to see the transcript and see who is lying or not, and whether the media is just trying to make trouble.
If the Russian guy brought it up and Flynn said the Trump administration would look at it when they got into office, then a person could say either thing - that he did discuss it, or that he didn’t - without lying. The subject came up and he said it would be looked at at the proper time. What else was he supposed to do/say, if the other guy brought it up?
At this point I think we need to see the transcript, to know what’s really going on here.
That’s why “possibly” is the right answer.
AND if that’s what the “discussion” turned out to be, then the leak of this is sheer poison and the one who did it needs to go to Gitmo for a long time.
But “no” is not a wrong answer either, and all this hullabaloo requires it to be a dead-wrong answer.
I just heard Dr. Steve Pieczenik confirm what you suspect.
He said Lt. General Flynn ALWAYS KNEW he was in for the transition only. Actually Trump has someone stronger. This is just a set up in other words and just watch it play out.
As for the Globalist and the media saying things... It’s all like a baby throwing a crying and throwing a tantrum. They have no power.
That’s all good, but I want the people calling for a coup of our POTUS should be arrested and charged with the maximum penalty of the law.
>Islam is cancer posing as a religion.<
.
We must now wait for a legislator who has the courage to propose this into law.
Trump fired him for good reason. I believe Trump.
