Trading is like gambling.

No it isn't if you know what you are doing.......

Casino's have the BIG advantage...as the odds are overwhelmingly in their favor.

If you know what you are doing....you can make the odds in you favor...trading stocks.

FWIW-

Why don’t go short the “M”?

I don’t gamble.

Like you, I saw 2008 as a buying opportunity — i doubled what I put in each week for the next five years. Made my retirement much better.

I think however, the key item is that the equities market, the stock market, should only be less than half of your investments. Real estate, bonds, cash and debt freedom really should make up 60% of your net worth. Paid for home and vehicles, freedom from debt for toys, that is wealth.

It’s been a crap shoot since Washington got involved during the Clinton years on.
Government bails out some, changes regs to bury others and so on.

Zero interest to rates devestated savings and synthetically rose stock market prices way beyond reality.

I did....

I suspect you meant....Trading is like gambling if you have no idea what you are doing.

Is that about right?

Craps are luck based.

So are slot machines and the like...

Trading isn't gambling if you know what you are doing...you can place the odds in your favor. That won't ever happen in a casino.

Sort of. but it takes more than just knowing. Waiting for a good opportunity and then letting it play out requires mastering emotions that will try to make you act impulsively and make mistakes. For myself with a mathematical/computer background I found understanding to be the easier part of mastering the art of trading.

Actually I read the patterns well in certain brands of slots and earn about $150 an hour when I do that seven times a year.

The stock market is 100% about perception. It is not always reality based at all.

You have to observe and get on at the right time.

It”s good for 5-7k a year, but I don’t want to get addicted and stick to penny machines.

I go on a free cruise in June from one casino. I am good at pulling my. Are 85% of the time before I win.

Well if you have the knack...why not go full time.

You seem to have these slots pegged...

Most often..I've heard free cruises are given to those who leave money at the casino.

Maybe not in your case.....

I've no idea what your last two sentences mean....

You don’t want to be seen that often, if they are adding to hotels the wins are set up to stop.
Lots of reasons, and sometimes the same past winning machine gets a software change.

Fun, but you have to be on your A game.
