“My parents friends had one. I was unimpressed with it other than in a straight line and even then it wasnt that great by modern standards. For about the price of the average family sedan today you can get a sedan thats just as fast if not faster, safer, actually stops and goes around corners and actually gets more than 12mpg. :P”
No kidding. I helped a neighbor by driving her ‘67 goat to my mechanic for a checkup a while back: I mashed the pedal to the metal, slammed through the gears, the engine was roaring like hell and the goat was rocking and swaying. It felt like I was going 90 mph, but when I looked at the speedometer, it showed 60 mph. I’ll have to say, I nearly laughed by ass off.
I’ll take my 2000 Prelude over a ‘67 goat any day of the week.
I think the idea is to retro the 67 GTO like the Challenger was redesigned. Nobody wants a drum braked push rod V8 engined car with a carburetor and points.. But a 67 GTO with all new modern internals, that’s cool.

And you will tell your children “with pride” about your Suzuki Samurai too! I still get to climb into my 1963 Corvette Stingray Coupe and enjoy it every bit as much as the day I bought it new! There are no Japoshitboxes in this household. We buy American!
