this is 200,000 - 300,000 people.
The water is expected to top out at 907 feet for the next 1.5 to 2 days.
What happened to the bedrock under the emergency spillway?
That live streaming on the KCRA 3 link is doing a great job of showing the magnitude of this near disaster.
“All of Yuba County Ordered to Evacuate Immediately.”
The real headline says only lower levels of county.
They better get the U-2’s out of Beale and any other assorted intelligence aircraft.
My wife and I taught for many years in Marysville. Marysville( below sea level) is protected from three rivers the Yuba, Feather, and Sacramento by dikes that don’t get the maintenance they really need. It will be a major disaster, God willing the dam will hold and all will be safe. Prayers up for all, especially my old parish, Saint Joseph in Marysville.
Traffic looked to be at a standstill.

Socialism is insane.
maybe all the wonderful millions of cali illegals can help out.
pharaoh moonbeam is getting a small reckoning here.
These are the fruits of a Democrat run State. A disaster. Immense prayers for all these people. Lord protect them all.
Here is the dam on the right, the main spillway, the emergency spillway, which is a concrete spillway barely visible but in between the main spillway and the parking lot. The main areas of concern are that the water is so high right now it has flooded the parking lot to the left and is spilling over the hillside from there. This is not reinforced by concrete, it is just packed dirt, and is not considered part of the containment. The water is strong enough to erode this area quickly, and so it will erode a pathway around and maybe under the cement emergency spillway. Fortunately though, this will not affect the main dam, which is why they are only forecasting the top 30 ft. of water from the lake to be released.
I don’t think they know exactly why the main spillway failed. Do we have a failing concrete problem here. This could turn into a very expensive re-review and fix for California. Hope Moonbeam has a few extra bucks to spare.
Goodbye socialist Californians.
Pray there is no earthquake in the area. Liquefaction could occur and allow the earth to rip loose on the land side of the emergency spillway. I don’t know the geology around there, but I just hope the engineers that built the dam knew what they were doing.
Sitting here in the Red Zone listening to news reports. Folks going nutso. Tweakers already looting what few downtown stores we have. No gas stations open. But hey! The Indian Casinos are open for business so no worries.
Traffic still heavy on our little country road, but we are set back so no one sees us. That was a consideration when we moved here twenty years ago. That and our property’s relationship with the dam. Thought all about that.
We have our flippers and nose clips at ready just in case.
