I'm here in eastern Sacramento. I've packed clothes, toiletries and other essential items for quick evacuation east if necessary. The fear is that the dam's failure could quickly overwhelm both the Sutter and Yolo Bypasses and could affect EVERYTHING on the west shore of the Sacramento River.

How about driving out at least part way so you get past key bottlenecks? Wait there for several hours - avoid the panicked hordes?
