If Trump lost the popular vote he has nobody to blame but his own mouth. Thankfully we dont elect presidents by popular vote.
Thankfully FOR NOW we don’t elect presidents by popular vote. If we see a Dem majority again, that is one of the first things they will work to change. The lack of popular vote is constantly being used to discredit President Trump...Had he won, there would be less ammo to be used by the left. Yes, Presidents are elected by EC, but having both popular vote and EC would strengthen his mandate.
Regarding the popular vote...
Just asking...Were you a #NeverTrumper?
Why are you disputing the article’s statement from candidate Weld?
What do you mean “Trump has no one to blame but his own mouth” ??? BTW, it is President Trump, and he is not blaming anyone...The article states nothing about his mouth...But you seem to have some kind of issue with his mouth—the mouth that won true Trump supporting Deplorables a new president instead of the Uniparty corrupt Clinton.
As the article actually states:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Governor Weld brought up a fascinating point, a point that has been largely overlooked in the reams of post election analysis. Governor Weld said that Johnson-Weld internal polling showed that 75 PERCENT OF THEIR VOTES WOULD HAVE GONE FOR DONALD TRUMP HAD THEY NOT BEEN IN THE RACE. THE LIBERTARIAN TICKET RECEIVED NEARLY 4.5 MILLION TOTAL VOTES in the election. It makes logical sense that three fourths of these voters, drawn to a ticket of former, successful two-term Republican Governors, would be more attracted to limited government advocates promising change from the last eight years. In addition, they saw absolutely no appetite amongst their limited government voters to support the Clinton-Kaine ticket.
In short, if the Johnson-Weld ticket had not run, Donald Trump would have won the popular vote. Given the Green Party’s anemic showing and its great reluctance to support Hillary Clinton under any circumstance, it is very likely Donald Trump would have still won the popular vote even if the Green Party failed to field a candidate. In addition, Mr. Trump would have rolled up an even larger Electoral College margin, as the additional votes would have likely flipped New Hampshire, Maine, and Minnesota to his column.
No one can describe Governor Weld as an apologist for Mr. Trump. Just as no one can question Weld’s political acumen and integrity.
So we have an assessment from a competitor with no reason to be dishonest showing that since 75% Johnson/Weld vote totals would have gone to President Trump according to their internal polls, if Johnson/Weld had not run, President Trump would have won...his mouth has nothing to do with it.
I believe President Trump won popular vote by a landslide—In addition to Johnson/Weld votes, I believe there was substantial voter fraud (I live in Chicagoland—fraud is no big surprise). I do hope vote fraud is thoroughly investigated and new safeguards are implemented prior to 2018.
Old Dominion University, James Mason University, Electoral Studies Journal: Adjusted estimate of 6.4% for 2008 is quite substantial and would be associated with 1.8 non-citizen votes cast in 2008.
Catherine Engelbrecht, True the Vote, found 6.9 million people in 28 states doubly registered.
Anyone think the situation has improved???
I voted for Donald Trump, and was never a “NeverTrumper”. I’m a conservative Christian that realized we had no candidate in this race, and he was the best option. I’ve also never seen a race with so few lawn signs or bumper stickers, and I directly blame this on the candidates themselves; in Trump’s case, his vulgarity made it difficult to publicly support him.
I’m glad he won; I only expect economic gains, no victories in the culture war.
