President Trump blasted Sen. Richard Blumenthal Thursday for telling reporters that his Supreme Court pick called Trumps attacks of federal judges on Twitter demoralizing.
"Sen.Richard Blumenthal, who never fought in Vietnam when he said for years he had (major lie),now misrepresents what Judge Gorsuch told him?" Trump tweeted Thursday morning.

I think the President should make the following statement.
************************************************************
I have always have had respect for the opinions of those I choose to represent me or work in any capacity in my area of responsibility.
One of the things I am most interested in when choosing an individual for a position is their ability to speak honestly and to feel free to express there beliefs. While I may not agree with all they say, and I often do not, I nonetheless look upon this strength of conviction as a very necessary quality in anyone I consider.
Judge Gorsuch remains in my opinion the very best man suited for the position of Justice on our Supreme Court and I strongly support him now as I did before.
That’s essentially what Conway said this morning, as you can see at the link I posted above.
I missed it. Too lazy. Thanks.
Personally, I am so glad that Blumenthal came out with this statement, as it gave Trump a chance to remind everyone of Blumenthal’s lies about serving in Viet Nam.
You can count on Gorsuch being asked about this in his hearings. He would have been asked about the tweets without having said anything. It will all come out.
Wouldn’t be surprised that Gorsuch said what he is accused of saying. After all, isn’t it a fact that the pubbies often get screwed on their SCOTUS picks.
That’s the concern that folks here don’t want to even consider at this point.
“Judge Gorsuch remains in my opinion the very best man suited for the position of Justice on our Supreme Court and I strongly support him now as I did before.”
But is he really? We got three Supremes, Souter, Kennedy and Roberts appointed by Republicans who range from a disaster or unreliable at best. We can’t afford another dud.
The fact that this guy thinks that justices are above criticism and that precedents are sacrosanct doesn’t give me warm fuzzies. And that Allyotte, a never Trumper RINO, is spearheading his confirmation doesn’t add to the confidence.
“... he said that he finds any criticism of a judge’s integrity and independence disheartening and demoralizing.
Trump did criticize a judge for his independence and integrity. Sounds like Gorsuch is very critical of Trump.
If Gorsuch really feels this way and has any integrity shouldn’t he turn down his nomination?
Absolutely. Even Reagan gave us Kennedy and O’Connor. And the Bushes contributed Souter and Roberts.
I hear you but I think Trump needs to show no reservations at this point since the selection has been made.
The main thing about Gorsuch is he is a strict Constitutionalist. You really cannot ask for more then that.
Should have checked with Gorsuch before putting out that tweet. Later reports say Gorsuch confirmed the words and was OK with them going public.
Trump really has to stop using his gut reactions and make sure he is on firm ground or he risks being portrayed as a dummy who is simply trying to cover up for a bad choice of words (so-called judge)in his original tweet.
Now he has two bad tweets on one subject. No way to run a country.
Gorsuch has stated that his statements during his private conversation with Blumenthal were general comments and did not refer to Trump.
Blumenthal and the media used these two words out of context to misrepresent what Gorsuch said.
Trump said Blumenthal misrepresented Gorsuch’s comments.
Trump is correct.
Weren’t these his general comments?
... he said that he finds any criticism of a judges integrity and independence disheartening and demoralizing.

Gorsuch said he used the two words in a general statement and was not referring to Trump.
Blumenthal and the media deliberately used these two words to misrepresent what Gorsuch said.
Trump said Blumenthal misrepresented Gorsuch’s comments.
Trump is correct.
Gorsuch said he was not referring to Trump.
Blumenthal said Gorsuch was referring to Trump.
Blumenthal and the media misrepresented what Gorsuch said.
“I mean are we saying thats NOT a confirmation?”
I don’t know about ‘we’, but that’s a Minnesota mile away from a conformation to me.
