Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said President Donald Trump isn't likely to get his travel ban implemented by Congress if courts strike it down.
"I don't know that that's necessary," McConnell told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" Sunday. "I mean, the courts are going to decide whether the executive order the President issued is valid or not, and we all follow court orders."
McConnell's comments come after a federal judge put a pause on Trump's order that barred citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries -- Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen -- from entering the US for 90 days, all refugees for 120 days and indefinitely halts refugees from Syria.
Trump lashed out at the "so-called judge," tweeting Saturday: "The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!"

Mitch and Ryno are the very definition of sleazy politician. The oil just oozes out of them.
Congress doesn’t NEED to step in. The LAW is clear, it’s just the judge in WA doesn’t seem to be able to READ it. He’s saying the decision will cause his state irreparable harm, and that justifies the stay, but I don’t see how allowing more refugees is gonna cause harm. Now the delays caused by having to spend more time looking at someone’s visa might be an inconvenience to some employers in WA, but that won’t affect THAT many people, anyway, so it won’t cause irreparable harm.
If the Ninth Circus decides to uphold the WA judge’s decision, I hope the DOJ takes it to the Supremes, which has already upheld the existing law, when Obama was President.
McConnell sounds like the “Trump is not my president” crowd, Trump is part of the “other”, to quote a favorite Leftist line.
In other words, according to Turkey-Neck, the Courts run the country as they wish. They are our bosses. The other two branches are just for show and patronage jobs.
Kentucky, please get rid of this out of touch pussy!
Find a new Transportation secretary!
Remind us why Trump gave McConnell’s wife a cabinet post.....
“Jam his phone lines. Demand action and dont go quietly into the night...”
It won’t faze him in the least; he doesn’t care at all.
DH and I were discussing how actual civil war could be right around the corner for America. It make me glad to be old so I don’t have to see it happen.
Believe me many of us have tried. And I intend to keep trying. He’s an embarrassment to our state.
“I mean, the courts are going to decide whether the executive order the President issued is valid or not, and we all follow court orders.” That statement by the turtle is so aggravatingly stupid that I am just at a loss for words. But I’m not surprised.
Does he have any plan at all?
Sure he has a plan! His plan is to lie to the American people, support the Uniparty, and get re-elected.
In 2014 he PROMISED us that if we gave him an opportunity to lead the Senate (i.e., have a Republican majority), he'd lead the conservative pack in fighting back Obama's assaults on the constitution. He even brandished a gun at CPAC to show us what a strong boy he is!
...try not to laugh too loud at this sad sack loser POS.
He's deadly.
He's is one of those wolves in sheep's clothing.
He's standing there betraying President with every subtle breath.
Trump should have KEPT BLOCKING PEOPLE while appealing this ridiculous traffic court liberal's unlawful op-ed piece posing as a "ruling," simply citing the 1952 law as "settled" precedent and his authority as "clear cut and long established."
.
>> Step in, how? Congress already passed their law...in 1952! Every single president since the has used the exact same authority as Trump...including Obama in 2011.
Trump should have KEPT BLOCKING PEOPLE while appealing this ridiculous traffic court liberal’s unlawful op-ed piece posing as a “ruling,” simply citing the 1952 law as “settled” precedent and his authority as “clear cut and long established.” <<
Agree 100%
Trump has blinked on this.
He has to proceed or he will set a new precedent destroying the rule of law.
.
Now I get it!
They have been warning us all along.
I have seen this trend pop up a few times before in years past but never as deliberate, organized or arrogantly open as this is.
It's not President Trump that they are most upset and furious with.It is another entity and both parties are afraid and upset at it.
It is the American electorate , the voter.
How dare we elect an outsider that was vigorously opposed by both parties.
.When we refused to pick one out of the Republican chosen, and elected another they are so afraid of an outsider they have and are deliberately attacking their own party voter's chosen candidate.
If that wasn't irrational enough they threw their support to Hillary Clinton.
That was a nasty spit and slap in the face .
Now that the election is past and "the "people's right to choose" has taken place and since we did not listen and choose the right one.
We are now told that we rebellious children and we are to continue to be taught a lesson for making a a bad choice.
It is now said that since our leader is not one of them or their choice he but one elected by common everyday people can not expect any help from his own and opposite party but can expect to be met with all disruption, disrespect, disobedience and fierce resistance from both, for the length of his term. regardless
He can expect this regardless of the danger of financial or physical harm to the country or its people.
What can said of or to people who think like this, that are grown, mature and have operated daily in the halls our capitol for years in this state of mind.
Why in world would anyone wonder that we chose someone who was an outsider and different?
Guess the President will have to ban ALL immigration in order to avoid discriminating against anyone.
Frankly, find it amazing the turtle stood his ground in stopping BO’Bs choice for SCOTUS. He might not have a solid spine, but his jello had molded at the time.
