No, that wasn’t the problem. Even with that firmware patch made, the processor will only ever see a bit over 3gb of RAM. It’s a fault in that entire generation of Intel chipsets - PCs and Macs are both equally affected.

Ah but those chips pop out and are swappable?

Part of the reason i took the money back was by just looking at the new iMac. Practically sealed, no RAM door with everything fused to the motherboard. Bigger models do have RAM access but they`re making them 2 grand disposable machines.
