Senate Republicans pushed through a pair of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees Wednesday, upending standard committee rules to circumvent a Democratic boycott. Tom Price (R-Ga.) as secretary of Health and Human Services.

Either way, right now we are winning. Let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth and take our blessings as they come.

Apparently the Dems thought they had enough voters to hold office for decades. They forgot that people who don’t have to work for what want become complacent.

If demos had showed up, they would have been able to vote against the rule change.

Orin Hatch is usually regarded here as a RINO. In view of that, his growing a set is really remarkable. Looks like President Trump is getting ahold of things and taking charge.

No, the republicans did change the rules. The senate rules state for a committee to meet at least one member from both parties have to be present. So, when the dems boycott, no vote can be taken. They suspended the rule, so a committee vote was taken and the nominees can now be reported to the floor of the Senate.

Read the article next time. Exactly what is your agenda reporting fake news that they applied existing rules?

Suspending the rule for one member of each party to be present IS APPLYING EXISTING RULES!!

It was in the spirit of the rules - the point of the rule would be to keep the majority party from holding a meeting without the minority party present. In this case, the minority party simply refused to show up, they were not being excluded, therefore, they undermined the spirit of the rule. A quorum of the committee was present and thus they voted to suspend the rule and hold their meeting and vote.

He said he’s never seen “this kind of crap” and “pathetic” behavior the entire time he’s been in the Senate...that may actually be true.
