Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he has "serious doubts" about President Donald Trump's nominee to succeed the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court, the first sign of what is likely to be a contentious confirmation battle.
"Now more than ever, we need a Supreme Court Justice who is independent, eschews ideology, who will preserve our democracy, protect fundamental rights, and will stand up to a President who has already shown a willingness to bend the Constitution," Schumer said in a statement.
"Given his record, I have very serious doubts about Judge Gorsuchs ability to meet this standard. Judge Gorsuch has repeatedly sided with corporations over working people, demonstrated a hostility toward womens rights, and most troubling, hewed to an ideological approach to jurisprudence that makes me skeptical that he can be a strong, independent Justice on the Court."
Schumer pledged that the Senate Democrats will spearhead an "exhaustive" debate over Gorsuch's nomination.
"Make no mistake, Senate Democrats will not simply allow but require an exhaustive, robust, and comprehensive debate on Judge Gorsuchs fitness to be a Supreme Court Justice," Schumer siad.
Senator Sherrod Brown
(D-Ohio) also blasted Trump's selection of Gorsuch, criticizing the judge's position on healthcare, business, and workers' rights.
I cannot support any nominee who does not recognize that corporations are not people," the lawmaker said in a statement.
If you’re any of the states below that Trump won, call your D Senator and put the pressure on.

Hey Chucky! I just saw a “Lady Justice” statue and tears were coming out of her eyeball sockets! Cry for us Chucky! It’s a miracle!
The local CBS affiliate brought up the Hobby Lobby case when discussing this nominee. The example they gave was if the sports anchor believe he was the God of sports, you would have to take him at his word that sports watchers were a religion.
What does Amy Schumer think?
Great
I want to say something nice about Senator Schumer. Thank you for inspiring a wonderful Smokey Robinson song. It’s truly excellent.
Oh Chuck, stop you’re killing us.
I think he can find some snowflakes and probably still has a few tears. Go for it. CRY ME A RIVER.
I suppose it’s better to have a Supreme Court judge who falls asleep during hearings, or one that doomed a nation to a horrible health care system by his own twisted and incorrect thinking.
He wants a justice who will stand up to a president who has already bent the Constitution. That’s rich.
Right on, and the world is a better place.

Make no mistake, Senate Democrats The American people just went through an exhaustive, robust and comprehensive debate on your Party’s administration (called an election) over the past eight years, and found you unfit to continue.
Will the democrats ever be the LOYAL opposition as they used to be? Won't they ever stop opposing just for partisan un-reason, making accusations with no basis.
Democrats, we know them. They have even less than we thought. No wonder Hillary lost.
Tears on my pillow...
This thread also needs some Chuck Schumer theme music:

LOL! I don’t wanna know. :)
I still have serious doubts that the Dems will actually mount a filibuster against Gorsuch. Most of them are crazy, yes, but Judge Gorsuch is no fire-breather and it’s going to be tough for them to paint him as such. That said, they know that another (at least one) SCOTUS vacancy is likely and their chances of recapturing the Senate in 2018 is virtually nil, so they may want to keep their powder dry as far as the filibuster is concerned.
