Never one to refrain from speaking out on political issues, Starbucks (SBUX) CEO Howard Schultz took to his soap box on Sunday evening and fired back at the Trump administration following its controversial immigration ban.
"I write to you today with deep concern, a heavy heart and a resolute promise," Schultz said in a new blog post, adding, "We are living in an unprecedented time, one in which we are witness to the conscience of our country, and the promise of the American Dream, being called into question."
Housed in Schultz's missive were a host of interesting nuggets. Schultz said Starbucks is developing plans to hire 10,000 refugees over the next five years across the 75 countries globally where it does business. Starbucks will begin its hiring focus in the U.S. -- sending a clear message to Trump -- via those people who have served with U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel in various countries where U.S. forces have sought support.
.....
People quickly took to TheStreet's Facebook page to voice their opinion on Schultz's comments, with some calling for a boycott.
Byron Fairchild How about hiring 10,000 Americans at home first!!!😡 Glad I only buy at Big B coffee.

I like Starbucks a lot too. Regular coffee is not overpriced and it's really good. Was never bothered by the little petty PC things they do here and there, but they are crossing a line here.
Starbucks isn't ultimately a problem. They just sell coffee. But the major tech companies like Google, Amazon etc... are also declaring war on the administration. A much bigger problem.
Ack-Ack
Wild Buffalo Wings is another to add to the boycott list. They hate the 2nd Amendment. We just got 1 a in the next small town over and there is a big sign saying NO GUNS ALLOWED. Not that I’d eat their crap. I do the same with our McD’s as they ban guns in TN.
There are to many places that do ban my gun, some I have to comply with, like the Military base, but a store, sorry you lost a customer, I don’t need what you sell that bad or can’t find it elsewhere.

I can easily live without Starbuck’s.
Starbucks is on my no-fly list at all airports.
There are plenty of other venues to get coffee quickly and a heck of a lot less expensive.
Starbucks is for people who really don’t like coffee.
My County went 73% for Trump. They are building a Starbucks down the street. Should be interesting.
Like the emperor without clothes, the coffee at Howard’s Starbucks is bitter and tastes yucky.
.
Viva la boycott!
My church has a coffee shop, yessirree.
Its a great motivator.
That’s funny. But the question is: Was it better than the Nescafe from the U.S.?
It tasted like instant.
This CEO has been stoking the far left for a long time now. I boycotted Starbucks a while back and have not missed it at all.
I have never understood why anybody with functioning taste buds would drink the mud Starbucks calls coffee!
Been boycotting them for years because of the lousy coffee and, more recently, their politics!
I prefer Peet’s, anyway. I prefer brewing my own at home. Starbucks can pound sand.
Let’s face it, a lot of the people that patronize Starbucks are the intellectual elites that are willing to pay extremely high tariffs for coffee products because they think they can detect a ‘taste’ that is worth five times the cost of an average cup of coffee in a diner.
It’s a form of snobbery that supposedly puts them in a higher cultural class.
It will be interesting to see how many folks of conservative tastes will find out their morning coffee at McDs is good enough.
After going to Costa Rica and tasting the coffee at each step of the process, I can tell you that the dark roast is used to hide an inferior product. Like burning toast, it adds char and taste, but completely overcomes the regular taste.
For coffee that is poor, burnt is the only way you can make it taste the same every time.
Mount Hagen Organic (Whole Foods) is acclaimed as the better coffee.
Gotta say it never occurred to me that someone would want gourmet instant coffe. But it makes sense if one is constrained to instant that they would want the best.
“I can tell you that the dark roast is used to hide an inferior product. Like burning toast, it adds char and taste, but completely overcomes the regular taste”
I have heard that about dark roasts. There is something about that smokiness that I favor. Although I would like to taste a cuppa Costa Rican from quality beans to set a standard.
I must confess that Starbucks was a daily habit for me. Then we moved to a small town...no Starbucks. Via is the closest. I don’t like k-cups because I can taste the plastic residue in the coffee. Via takes literally 10 seconds to make. Quite a product, really.
Love it!
