Car-sharing service Uber announced it would pay “lost wages” to drivers temporarily restricted from reentering the United States after President Donald Trump’s travel ban on certain Middle Eastern countries.
Trump signed an executive order Friday that temporarily bans travel from seven Muslim-majority countries for 90 days, and further bans all refugees for an extended 120 days, according to the White House’s website. Activist groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations quickly organized protests at several major airports, including Dulles near Washington, D.C., and Kennedy airport near New York City.

Query: Are there actually any uber drivers who were effected by this order? I am thinking the answer is either no, or the number of affected drivers is so small as to make the amount uber is committing to pay to be trivial. But I would be curious to know if this is actually the case.

“Re-entering” suggests they were once here & then made to leave for whatever reason. Why would Uber want to pay lost wages for these people? What about lost wages for citizens that remained in the country & put out of work? Something really screwed up about this.

If true, this makes Uner guilty of a federal crime. They need to start passing out the fines of $10,000, then $100,000, then $5,000,000 and finally, $50 million.

So, Uber has drivers who are here as rapugess from these certain war ravaged countries. And, these poor rapugess who escaped those countries, go back for visits? And this makes any sense? Absolutely not. They are not refugees if that is there attitude.
A true refugee couldn’t be PAID to go back into the danger and hardship, until the risk is gone, and they can return for good. A true refugee would be saving every last penny so they can rebuild their life, not risk their life going back into a war zone for “visits”.

I didn’t think Uber drivers got paid a “wage”... I though you got paid based on the number of fares you chose to pick up, on your own schedule. So how does one calculate “lost wages”?

Boycotts would be the answer. Except if we refused to buy from or support idiot liberals, then we better be ready to go off the grid and live on our own on a self supporting farm.
