Costco had precooked chicken on sale for several months. A 4 pound cooked chicken was $3.99. Many times we bought 2 that lasted several days. Like you, I made chicken salad. It’s now $4.99. :-(
On Tuesdays (sometimes maybe monthly) a local grocery sell those chickens for 2.00 to seniors. (Limit 2). It’s so sweet seeing all the carts lined up with their two chickens and goodies. They all compare recipes Many just divide the chickens and freeze in meal containers with frozen vegetables Ready to zap in microwave. The thrifty generation !

Those pre-cooked chickens can make many a meal. We start of with drumsticks and thighs each (they are small), then the breasts go into a variety of meals. Always get about 6 dinners minimum out of them, and the dogs get the skin and bits and pieces over their dry food, when they condescend to eat a little dry food.
