It’ll grow most places that’ll grow a garden, just put cloves in the ground in the fall. Once they’re established you’ll have more than you can use. Elephant garlic does particularly well here.

If you just want to buy it, Gilroy, California is famous for garlic, bills itself as Garlic Capital of the World, huge festival, heaven for garlic lovers. I’ve done it twice. Newbies should try the garlic ice cream, not bad, roasted so it’s sweet. No need to buy it again once you’ve had it once, tourist novelty, makes for interesting conversation.
