I don't know anything about electricity except what I read in a book ...

I got out of the Air Force knowing LOTS about electricity; repairing and maintaining racks of tube and newly transistorized equipment.

After four years and a marriage and buying an old house, I was ready to tackle problems.

The first was installing a garbage disposal in the kitchen sink.

I knew that Black was GROUND and thus White must be the power.

.................

It was a shocking experience to find that houses and 'tronics are; shall we say; a wee bit different!

Funny. I've replace a couple of disposals over the years but I learned to tape each wire with a designation as to where they went. Basically a swap-out and not much knowledge of electricity was required.

What I'm doing now, wiring this old shed for power, is pretty straight forward. Several light fixtures, several outlets wired to an existing breaker box. 12-2 NM cable, 15 amp outlets, simple porcelain light fixtures. Should be a piece of cake.

The proof in whether I wired it right or not, will come when I flip the breaker back on. It'll either work or will fry. Here's to keeping my fingers crossed. :-)
