Caroline Kennedy lost her Ambassador post in Japan when Trump took office. He sent her packing and hasn’t even bothered to name a replacement.
But according to the New York Post, she’s not done with public service. Kennedy is planning to run for the U.S. senate in 2018.
First, she’s going to be penning a memoir, but then she’ll be getting down to work. She plans to follow in the footsteps of her uncle Robert Kennedy, and run for a New York senate seat.
She plans to target the seat of Democratic Senator Kristen Gillibrand. Or she could run for Rep. Kristen Gillibrand’s House seat instead.
This is great news for progressives. Caroline Kennedy has the Kennedy name and recognition, but none of the baggage.

Kennedy has a net worth...Kennedy trust funds.
She has much of the popularity of Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton among Progressives, but no baggage. So securing campaign donations won’t be a problem.
But her aspirations don’t end there. According to an unnamed source, “Caroline had a successful ambassadorial run in Japan and feels really very confident about putting her hat in the ring for a New York congressional or Senate seat, with even possibly bigger political objectives down the road”
“Down the road” could include a run for president in 2020. She would be a strong candidate to run against the Republicans.

I remember that as well. Her words are liberally sprinkled with lots of “Uh”s and “Ummm”s. It was most annoying to listen to her speak. My takeaway is she is not very bright at all, and doesn’t have the “it” factor.
IMO, they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. But you never know, with the Crazy party.
Someone put a bug in her ear, after her brother died and she has 1/2 heartedly been chasing, or being PUSHED into politics since then.
Trump is the first NYer to win the White House since FDR; Yankees don’t tend to do well nationally because their issues aren’t really the same as those of importance to much of the rest of the country. That is why they are out of touch with “flyover country”.
As for IL, there may simply not have been a spot a Dem candidate or incumbent wanted to give up.

OTOH, there has been, in just recent history, LBJ,Carter, and Clinton. Talk you way out of that one and I’ll start going back father, in history.
The 12 years of Texans (Bush I & II), while not perfect, were preferable to the alternatives.
That has worked for Barbara Boxer and Patty Murray for many decades. To be elected a Democrat Senator from NY or the left coast it seems to actually be an asset, which says something about the dem voters in those states.

This past election saw a NYer (Trump) run against a former NY senator (a carpetbagger from IL); NY would have claimed the winner either way. How many NYers won in the country as it exists now (50 states)?
The vast majority of presidents won the election and served PRIOR to 1959!
