MEXICO CITY--President Enrique Pe

I got your point. It was hard to miss. Again, you want to pay more to the country who's been looting the U.S. for decades, where millions of Mexicans have zero respect for America, as they routinely defecate on our laws and rules?
Be my guest!☺
You missed my earlier comment...(#10)
“I would prefer a tax on remittances to mexico sent back by the mexicans here.”
We can do that too. In just monetary damages alone, I’d estimated Mexico has cost the U.S. upwards of trillion in the past decade or two
It’s time to collect folks.
That’s a FAIL.
That tarrif will just be passed along to US consumers.
Tax these bits going the other ways please.

Very nice. There are numerous ways to make Mexico pay, indirectly.
>>We dont need a price increase of 20% that WE end up paying.
Exactly. Tax the bit$ being wire-transferred South.
Batman shopped the produce section of Piggly Wiggly lately?
Love that idea! Hit ‘em where it really hurts. You need to send that idea to Trump himself.
We import a lot of our winter food from Mexico, and 20% will hurt low income families the most. They already suffer from diets low in fruits and vegetables. A much better idea would be to charge from 2% to 7% for money sent by illegal aliens to Mexico and elsewhere. There are any number of ways that the wall could be paid for. Years ago I had a friend from India. He said he was only allowed to take $10,000 out of the country. I don’t remember if there was a significant fee for taking out larger amounts. But there should have been.
So a 100% tariff is not a bad idea.
What happens when an imported car or fan is made artificially expensive by adding a 30% tariff?
Answer: Because of pure greed manufactures will start to produce on this side of the border and pocket that money since the will charge the going rate. So greed is working for the US worker instead of against them.
But alas after a while, when all productions for fans and cars returns, they will have to compete with each other.
$26B per year goes south to Mexico in currency transfers every year. 20% tax on that and the self-deportation will begin.
I think that’s what Trump’s had in mind the whole time. To curtail any behavior, tax it.
A tariff is a great idea and should be across the board and not just from product form Mexico.
No. it means that people that buy Mexican product pay for the wall.
“I know, both California and Florida Avocados are better, creamier, but they gap during part of the year. Adding more trees would help”
OMG! Can you imagine the horror of having to eat seasonal fruits and vegetables only?
Simplistic beyond belief.
Those goods can be made in America and the manufacturer will reap a huge windfall. Greed is good. Next thing you know another supplier will start up until all the supply originates in America and we have jobs again. Prices will be set by domestic competition and not though global labor arbitrage. win - win -win.
But globalist bullies do want that. Thank God for President Trump.
As it stands right now only 10% of the manufacturing work force in the USA is unionized. So a tariff would also help the other 90% of workers in that area of the economy. Just so you know...
They did not sell most of the land to us. We acquired over 500,000 square miles of Mexican territory by aggressive warfare. Google “Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo” and read a few articles. Here is one I found interesting: https://www.mtholyoke.edu/~jasingle/conclus.html
Only the Gadsden Purchase was a negotiated sale. It was just under 30,000 square miles and served several useful purposes as described here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gadsden_Purchase
leftist troll alert!
There is nothing outrageous about a 20% tariff. It isn’t even controversial.
