I wish I were in a position to make sure this is a requirement, but the "powers that be" see things differently, and I don't see them changing their mind.

I would go even further. I would require that the person not only be natural born, but that he must have lived virtually all his life in the US. Someone who is born here, then moves to a foreign country and is educated in foreign schools is not my idea of “American.”
