And there you have the perfect example of a tyrannical federal government.
of course, of course...those same tyrants which forced those poor, put upon troops which surrounded the entrance to Charleston to fire on hugely outgunned Fort Sumter...much like ‘tyrannical victimization’ forced Imperial Japan to attack Pearl Harbor...

Fort Sumter was the property of South Carolina, which was by then a member of the Confederate States of America. The CSA took pains to reach an equitable settlement concerning Ft. Sumter. Lincoln's answer was to send reinforcements; General Beauregard replied with lead once the fleet neared the entrance to Charleston Harbor because Major Anderson refused to refrain from joining any pending hostilities from the "Relief Squadron". Allowing the invading fleet to enter the harbor would have placed his troops in a crossfire, hence Bearegard fired the first shot - a shot in self-defense in response to the North's provocation.
The states entered into a voluntary union with the assumption that they could withdraw from that union. In fact, Virginia had entered the union with a written proviso that it could withdraw. One could argue for days on end as to the cause of the war: trade, states rights, slavery, etc.. However, the main reason the South fought is because it was invaded by the North.
The bottom line is that I have neither the time nor desire to litigate the war with you; especially given your reprehensible comparison of the South's self-defense to Japan's sneak attack.
