Has there ever been a boycott that actually worked? Just curious. There was much hooting and hollering here about Macy's having to close stores after they decided to be anti-Trump but almost all brick-and-mortar retailers are suffering due in large part to the cyber-shopping revolution. It's anecdotal to tie their misfortune directly to the boycott over them not supporting Trump. On the other side of the coin, the boycott of Chick-Fil-A by the Left was an epic failure as it actually caused an uptick in sales as conservatives flocked to the restaurants.

In some cases a boycott will have the reverse effect as in the Chick-Fil-A case but in most cases there is marginal if any effect at all.

I can't think of one business that was shut down or even severely affected on account of a boycott from either the Right or the Left. I also think a lot of people who are vowing not to watch the NFL game next Sunday will watch it just the same.

Make-Goods Eat Into November NFL Ad Sales Revenue, but Pricing Continues to Soar

Lots of spin, but note the info on the makegoods. Yes, boycotts can work.

the prime purpose for boycotts is for the signalling of one’s virtue; as many of the posts on this stupid thread indicate quite nicely...
