“The BEST students are homeschooled and Asian.”

Were the Asians all homeschooled?

If they weren’t it seems to prove that non-home schooled kids can also do well.

Mixed message here.

If “homeschooled Asians” was the intended meaning, the “and” would be unnecessary.

Yes.

They get home and are schooled there by their parents and then sent to special after school classes.

Most American children are not tutored unless their grades are very far down. Asian students are tutored as a matter of course.

All of this is home schooling.

Basically, yes.

With the parents demanding that much work in homework after school each day, then yes, the kids we're doing well because they were inherently smart or because of the public education. it was because of the parental involvement and the time spent at home learning.

The public schools are just a technicality at that point.

Even if they are public-schooled, they are still "home-schooled." Homework gets checked every night, reading material and level are all confirmed, and all parents who are serious about education (ie. many asians) are making sure at home their kids are prepared for upcoming tests.

In sum, much of the work and process of education still gets done at home.

To me it proves once again - family background and environment is literally everything to a child's development.

I don’t think anyone is saying that only homeschool students are successful. In the case of Asians, they seem to have stronger family ties and a different culture that values education and respect for parents and teachers that many non-Asians lack (Yes, I know I’m generalizing some.)

Our 3 kids were homeschooled and did well, some of our grandchildren will be homeschooled and some are in private Christian school. One is in a public school. All seem to be doing fine, although the boy in public school has suffered what many active little boys do in traditional schools - he has difficulty sitting still for so long.

Having said that, I do worry about children in public schools because the schools have become so godless and the left is taking over and indoctrinating children in communism, Islam, and perversion. At some point, parents are going to have to decide if they can, in good conscience, keep their precious children in schools that are the antithesis to their own values.
