President Donald Trump starts his first full week in the White House with just two Cabinet secretaries confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Thats the lowest number in decades and a sharp contrast from former President Barack Obama.
Trumps picks have fared worse than past Cabinet nominees. Even though Trump enjoys a Republican-led Senate, Democrats have kept their promise to delay confirmation of his nominees, even if they lack the votes to ultimately defeat them.
The Daily Signal reviewed Senate confirmation data for newly elected presidents, beginning with Jimmy Carter in 1977 through Obama in 2009. The chart above shows when the Senate confirmed each presidents Cabinet secretaries.

I understand what you are saying.
I have read the artiicle and looked at the graphic.
But it is not unprecedented.
Look at the graphic yourself.
Specifically George H. W. Bush.
Two approvals in the first week - same as Trump.
If something happened before it is not unprecedented.
While senators dither, undersecretaries and their staff are working hard, already implementing changes in their various departments and bureaus. While senators grill over positions and demand retractions and opinion changes, those already appointed are busy putting those words into actions.
I'm content to let the senate dither and showboat for their sore loser contingents; the damage from the Obama administration as well as the neglect of others are already being corrected.
That, really, is unfortunately something I never really paid attention to. And it was one of the core reasons why I first started supporting Trump. Because I knew he'd make a large number of great hires, and they'd get to work immediately.
Damn auto correct. Varney just announced that Rubio will support Tillerson.
************
That’s big, since Rubio is on the committee and will give Tillerson a positive committee vote to send it to the full Senate.
According to the chart in post #1 it will be unprecedented if Trump has less than 6 cabinet members confirmed by the end of week #2.
well of course. Why should we expect otherwise. This is why Democrats are better political warriors than Republicans. Reps rolled over and let Obama have whatever.

CIA must be confirmed ASAP, national security first
Since SOS is in line of sucession it should take place and so many world leaders want access, its just stupid to have Trump tied up doing the work Rex wants to do. Rex has all the votes he needs.
The rest should be confirmed by this Friday, one full week.
If there is any foot dragging by Dems, just pass the Sanctuary Cities order and send a shot across the bow that your not dealing with a weak POTUS.
Someone, please help me to understand. With the Repugs in control, of the committees/Senate/House, etc., how is it that Dems can obstruct?
With Bush you had one Republican administration replacing another. You didn't have a wholesale depopulation of the cabinet.
Lovely then why bring in Bork or Thomas. Those were different issues
So it's really not just "Unprecedented."
It's "Unprecedented (some disclaimers and exceptions apply as noted in the fine print)".
And it's also early. As someone else pointed out we really need to wait until Thursday to know just how many of Trumps cabinet get confirmed his first week.
Good point.
