A surge of refugees to the Sacramento area has transformed San Juan Unified into the local epicenter for students from Afghanistan, Ukraine, Iraq and Syria.
As a result, the district has hired non-credentialed bilingual instructional assistants who speak Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto and Ukrainian to help newcomers understand classroom lessons.

I was using the computer at my public library recently, and the main screen had options to use the computer in English, Spanish, and Somali.
The Los Angeles Unified School District used to claim that it had to deal with over 165 different languages. I can’t imagine that has gone down over time.
With that in mind, folks might have to dial 103 for English.

Bilingual education is just another way for arrogant Mexicans to feel entitled to demand special privileges. Emboldens them to give us the finger bilingually. Invaders with the foulest mouths. We can let up on that now. They lost the election and elections have consequences.
Unfortunately, savages from muslim countries are quick to imitate the most experienced Mexicans, enhanced by their unique tendency to uncontrolled sexual crimes with any consequences.
That Sacramento, CA is simply a smaller version of the rotten Sodom-by-the-bay, aka San Francisco, only makes me glad that I am nowhere near Sacramento school districts.
In the old days you learned English or else.
Why teach them in their own language?
In public schools:
We don’t teach English.
We don’t teach Math.
We don’t teach History.
We don’t teach Civics.
Actually, why have schools at all?
At least, why have schools populated by can’t major in real subjects NEA folks?
You have no idea. They think they are the mangy tail that wags the dysfunctional "California" dog.
It’s a good thing that CA is so wealthy that they can afford all these squatters and their armies of children for the taxpayers to educate. They shouldn’t miss the federal funds that will be withheld from their sanctuary cities.
All incoming filth should be stopped as of 1-20-2017 noon. If not, why not?
All recent filth should be being processed for deportation by now too. islam has no place in America.
C’mon “Big One”
It always mildly annoys me when I’m on a US website and when it asks for my country, I have to scroll down to United States in alphabetical order. The better sites have the US as the main choice at the top followed by the list.
The vast majority of bilingual teachers I’ve ever seen have much poorer knowledge of the subject area, such as biology or math. They were hired primarily because of their bilingualism. And their English is usually heavily accented so that the students don’t really learn English at all. So you get poor instruction in the subject matter and poor instruction in English. A win-win for the stupid taxpayers who allow this.
