Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on Sunday that he is prepared to leave open the ninth seat on the Supreme Court.

“If the nominee is not bipartisan and mainstream, we absolutely will keep the seat open,” Schumer told CNN’s “State of the Union.”

ADVERTISEMENT The Supreme Court vacancy has been open since last February, when Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia passed away.

Schumer said he is prepared to fight "tooth and nail" should Trump not choose a mainstream nominee.

“Bipartisan and mainstream”

‘Like all four of the Dim appts, Chuck?’

They may as well have been, for all the resistance they got from the Uniparty.

Schumer is used to the GOP caving when their nominees hit resistance. Trump is not like that. He will hammer Schumer publicly until the Dem brand stinks like a rotting whale carcass. The game isn’t being played by the old rules anymore.

The sonofabitch is a career politician who has *never* had a job of any kind in the private sector. Eff a bunch of Schumer.

At the very minimum it should be someone like Scalia.

This is good. Now there’s no reason for the GOP to maintain the filibuster rule for SCOTUS appointments. He’s going to be intransigent and unreasonable. So let’s accommodate him by killing the filibuster rule.

He and 40 other senators do.

Trump has schumer right where he needs him, shooting his big mouth off to no end.

Now Trump needs to start working some deals with some democrat senators who need to look good for re-election in two years.

Change the Rules to require a simple majority and call it the Harry Reid rule.

The stupid pussy march has embolden the evil rats!! I almost lost my dinner when I heard one of the guest panelist on Fox say that this March should be very much taken into consideration in the makeup of trumps agenda and that the rats will take this and run with it as verification that the majority of Americans do not approve of Trump! Let's see if the republicans at the hill have the nerve, the spine and the 🏀's of steel to side with President Trump and the American voting base or will they run to the nearest bed and cower in fear after this freak show!! Sad to say but I fear latter!UGH!!😡

That is exactly correct. The filibuster is still in place for Supreme Court nominees. If I understand correctly, should the Supreme Court vote tie, it will go back to its lower court which President Trump (I love saying that) can load up with conservatives

Nope.

Not on the Supremes.

2/3’s are required.

BUT...it’s the only card Chucky holds. (though a high card)
All the repubs have to do is force him to give up that card.

If he wants to play in anything else for at least 2 years, he’ll need to give up that card.
Trump is good at painting the picture outside of the media.
He can paint Schumer (and the dems) as purely obstructionist.

Remember, the repubs played ball with the dems, for Kagan and Sotomayor.

Time to call those markers in,
If Schumer and company want to see any cushy committee seats.

President Trump and his supporting Republicans will have to use a little strategy and tactics to make Chuck U, ...Schumer, ...irrelevant, but it can be done.

And in training up to accomplish this Trump should go for the more Conservative Constitutionalist appointments, and then expand to correct the entire Federal Judiciary, District and Appellate Courts.

There are legal, Constitutional ways to turn the Courts Constitutionalist using Executive orders, Appointments, and a cooperative simple majority Congress.

There is no way for the Dems to block the Senate from going into recess.
After three to five days of recess a ‘recess appointment’ is uncontroversial.

No need to have a special recess, the Senators always want to recess LOL!

There are enough Rinos that would support the Dems to not kill the filibuster rule for SCOTUS appointments. Let me name a few: McCain, Graham, Flake, Sasse, Lee, Rubio, Collins to name a few. McConnell, too and wouldn’t bring the change up for a vote.
