It’s sort of like when you say you bet your car on the football game and then when you lose you said... just kidding.

COMMUTATION is not a pardon.

He’s going back on NOTHING.

Wikileak's tweet said:

"If Obama grants Manning clemency Assange will agree to US extradition despite clear unconstitutionality of DoJ case."

He's a cowardly narcissist and he's going back on his pledge.

It couldn't bee more clear cut.

I thought it was a stupid pact to make in the first place.

This more of the same: "Assange is a liar", by misreporting what was said.

Wikileak's tweet was

"If Obama grants Manning clemency Assange will agree to US extradition despite clear unconstitutionality of DoJ case."

There's no mis-reporting here - only people trying to rationalize craven narcissism.

I have not read the details lately but on the surface, as Assange is not a US citizen and did not do anything in the US by all accounts, I doubt HE has violated any US laws. Nothing we can legitimately prosecute him for. Might now want to give him visa or permission to visit, but our focus should be on traitors like Manning and Snowden.

“Well looks like Assange played Obama...just like every foreign despot for the last 8 years.”

Obama gets to walk out of the White House a free man.

Assange will never walk out of that embassy a free man.

I thought Assange had said “pardon” ... went back & looked at Wiki tweets & it did say clemency so I’m wrong on that.

The news media has not helped the confusion & here’s one example (foxnews no less!) ... probably why I thought it was “pardon”:

Headline: Assange would agree to extradition if Obama pardons Chelsea Manning, WikiLeaks says

Body of story: WikiLeaks said Thursday that its founder Julian Assange will agree to be extradited to the U.S. if President Barack Obama grants clemency to Chelsea Manning.

I think the topic was Chelsea Manning’s sentence being commuted. There was no “pardon” as such.

Trusting reporting has its perils.

Having said that I think a lot of what we interpret as bias is simply bad reporting and editing.

Too bad so sad. Did they get it in writing all nice n legal? What? No....they didn’t?

Good for Assange. Nothing but an idiot would agree to come to the USA to get locked away in Quantico to wait for a kangaroo FISA court proceeding with a predetermined outcome of most of your life.

Exactly.

I imagine that by now the walls of that embassy apartment are closing in on Julian.

Brings to mind all those bold heroes throughout history who chose to hide behind Equador's skirts.

While Manning may wear a skirt, he took responsibility for his actions while Assange and Snowden ran away to hide behind dictators’ skirts.
