President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday tweeted that approval rating polls are rigged against him, as a series of polls show him with historically low approval as he enters office.
"The same people who did the phony election polls, and were so wrong, are now doing approval rating polls. They are rigged just like before," Trump wrote.

A CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday morning showed Trump with 40 percent approval - six points lower than it was after Election Day, and lower than the last three presidents.

An ABC News/Washington Post poll also released Tuesday found just 40 percent respondents approved of how Trump has handled his presidential transition, and 54 percent viewed him unfavorable.

I don’t find a problem with a low approval rating at the outset. It lowers the bar for him and he can come across even more impressively when he starts chalking up successes.

I have exactly as much faith in these poll numbers as I had in the pre-election state polling and in obama’s approval number polling.

Hell look, how many people on FR are back to posting MSM stories and slobbering all over Fox News.
As if 2016 never happened.

“Didn’t he learn last November how useless polls are?”
Really... that’s all he needs to tweet. He doesn’t need to go to the “rigged” verbiage again. Just remind America about how wrong the polls were in November.

Exactly right. He isn’t going to put them out of business. He is allowing them to put themselves out of business.

Heres hoping his advisers can convince him that these are fake polls too. He's not stupid. He's knows they're not worth the paper they're printed on.

The media concocted polls during the election and they are concocting polls now.
The hell with the “media.” Dying dinosaurs.

Polls by news organizations these days are not meant to measure public opinion, but to shape it. The Donald gets it.

It is results that matter. As in the election if he had lost, he would have looked us in the eye and said, “I did my best.” and gone home.
Note how almost every tweet is a challenge to a goal. He makes it personal, but he also establishes a target.
Maybe it is just me that sees this. I grew up with, “you can do better than this” and they were always right.

Don’t trust a poll of “adults.”
And don’t trust statistics. It was not meant for surveys and polling.

Much will depend on whether Trump can take the offensive on his issues and present his positions well, rather than merely tweet-out responses to every nonsensical thing that comes out of their mouths.
To: Socon-Econ
I don't like Trump tweeting either, but it's better than eight years of not responding at all like Bush did.
We'll be in a war for the next 4-8 years and as the saying goes - all's fair in love and war.

Never before in our country's history has an incoming president been treated so viciously. This is not true. Reagan was treated despicably. Lincoln, on the other hand, was treated with absolute hatred by Democrats, the same as the inheritors of the hate party are treating Trump today.
