They are some of the biggest names in the Republican national security firmament, veterans of past GOP administrations who say, if called upon by President-elect Donald Trump, they stand ready to serve their country again.
But their phones aren’t ringing. Their entreaties to Trump Tower in New York have mostly gone unanswered. In Trump world, these establishment all-stars say they are “PNG” — personae non gratae.
Their transgression was signing one or both of two public “Never Trump” letters during the campaign, declaring they would not vote for Trump and calling his candidacy a danger to the nation.

During a national security forum last week at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington, K.T. McFarland, who was named Trump’s deputy national security adviser, opened her remarks by referring to the “elephant in the room.”
“Most of the people in this room didn’t support Donald Trump — maybe not at first or maybe ever,” she said. “And I suspect most of the people in this room didn’t think he’d win. But he has.”
Some of the “Never Trump” letters signers fear they are at the bottom of the pecking order, below those who expressed verbal opposition to Trump’s campaign but did not sign either of the letters.

All of them think they are the best at their jobs and are irreplaceable. They will soon find out neither is true.
This the hoped-for outcome and practice: that Trump eviscerates the American mandarin class.

Why should President Trump trust any of these arrogant jerks who somehow thought he was a greater danger to the nation than Hillary!
Each of them can begin their attempt at redeeming themselves with a formal, written mea culpa, explaining in detail how mistaken and unfair they were. Then, President Trump will proceed from that point to decide on their sincerity, or whether they have any utility to this nation's national security apparatus in pursuing the goal of making America great again.
These NeverTrumpers made their bed, and now they can sleep in it. Their loss of opportunity is a perfectly logical ramification of burning their bridges by subscribing to and propagating the hysterical, unfounded, and hateful smears against Donald Trump.
These clowns, to reiterate, wanted Hillary Clinton, a criminal, to win the Presidency. That betrays some pretty piss-poor judgement on their parts. And now they expect to be offered jobs in the Trump administration?
"Don't call us, we'll call you. Or not."
So would I; but I have one additional requirement for their employment, Striped uniforms and a ball and chain.

Somehow I expect that there are other very capable national security advisers available who aren’t self-important ‘establishment all-stars’.

I love how they point out how President-elect Trump has virtually no experience in national security and foreign policy but you NEVER heard a single word about BO in that aspect.
At lease he is hiring people with actual experience to work with instead of letting people BUY their jobs.
Thanks for posting this. All the entitled whining is possibly one of the funniest things that I’ve read all week. The disloyalty is an obvious disqualifier. The sheer stupidity is an even bigger one. Holy cow...your career goal is a post in a Republican administration and you think it is a good idea to trash talk the nominee?
