Personally, I have no respect for John Lewis! None whatsoever!
No one cares how much respect you have for Lewis. (Same for me).
The key being, how respected a person may be, even fully merited, does not make a person immune from criticism if they say something wrong or insulting or harmful etc...
I have NO RESPECT for John Lewis. He is a hack and a fraud. His “civil rights icon” status is so old that even HE has forgotten it. Trump was right in calling him out on his FAILURE of his district! He doesn’t get immunity for being black and being a so-called “icon”.
