Seems many of us would love to allow them.

Almost seems? I like your sense of understatement!
Well, yes, they’ve wanted that almost as soon as there was de-segregation. Now blacks who have the opportunity to go to college want to be illiterate again. What next? Taking up cotton-picking??
They do, so they can deal with a lowered bar/standard. It isn’t just about whites; every other non-black group puts them to shame academically, and rather face the challenge head-on they’ve opted to just create a lower target.
This doesn’t bode well for their future, or the future of those who have to deal with their permanent envy and inferiority complexes. The roots of much of their violence, IMHO...
They want segregation when it’s convenient or beneficial for them. But nobody else is allowed to segregate themselves from THEM.
And the black and minority ethnic students are potentially criminals. Should that be factored in?
Schools have already become totally re-segregated. Dorms, cafeterias, clubs, fraternities, libraries, study groups, even some classes are all Black. Whites trying to attend or enroll are simply told to leave under threat of physical violence.
Even in some “good” public high schools, black students decree that certain rooms or sections of the cafeteria or library are for them only.
The only reason they are marginal now is because of integration. But hey, segregate, and see what it gets ‘em. The blacks have been destroyed because of the educational system, and the failure of the family structure is a large contribution to that failure.
