Many highlights - the good interview lasted 25 minutes.

She talked about her role - general strategy and advice and helping to oversee whole communications function. She will have the opportunity to go in and speak with him but without abusing that privilege.

She lived in Washington DC for 20 years - went to law school there - but never been there as mother of four or as advisor to President so it’s very different. Loves Washington DC.

One child - 12 year old daughter would perhaps like to finish school where she is....but her twin brother is ready to come to DC. Younger daughters - are excited for next adventure. ONe says: Mommy you’ve worked so hard I think you should choose where we live.

She was raised by her single mom, her grandmother, and two single aunts. They didn’t have a conversation about politics though they certainly voted. She was raised to be hardworking, entrepreneural, she was raised Catholic. Raised to be strong and independent with grace and calmness with respect for other people.

This kept her steady when people were very unkind in the campaign.

...

She has learned many lessons - one is the shared value of just being kind to all the people you deal with on a day to day basis. If you are kind along the way, that’s what people remember about you. People will stop her along the way and say, I don’t much care for Donald Trump but I like the way you handled yourself or you taught us a lesson about grace and poise and ladylikeness.

Also, do not allow people to define who you are....what other people say about you is not necessarily the truth.

More on another post.....

More from Kellyanne’s long interview on Cspan:

She talked with Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s top advisor for 8 years - who tole her advice - just have to steel yourself and not worry what people are saying about you when you are concentrating on serving the President and the people of this country.

She first met President Trump about 20 years ago. She grew up not far from Atlantic City - where he was a legend there for many years. People don’t remember but when Donald Trump (and others) revitalized Atlantic City, they brought many jobs to that area. In fact her mother worked in a non-Trump casino for 21 years - that’s how she supported her family. So she knew about him for a long time.

She met him some time in the late 90’s. But she got to know him better when she sat on a condo board for the Trump World Tower - about 10 or 11 years ago - she got to know him better.

She showed up at a condo board meeting one night and in he walks and she thought, “He comes to the Condo board meetings?” (Shows he is going to be personally involved in any condo board of any project that bears his name...)

He knew her as someone who had been on TV talking about politics (she didn’t go into what her role had been at that time re: talking politics)....he knew she did polling and he was fascinated with the polls. She would come in to see him maybe 2 or 3 times a year and they would talk about politics and the polls.....and public policy.

He thought about running for President in 2012. She and her company did some polling for him in 2011. People urged him to run for Governor of NY in 2014.

She remembers attending a meeting in Trump Tower on January 9, 2014, an icy day - remembers it well - talked about running for Governor and knew he had thought about running for President earlier. Talked about the fact that every great movement requires a transformative individual to bring others along who maybe had lost faith in the movement or are just disenchanted members of said movement. ...she gave as an example Pope Francis....thought she said she does not always agree with him....he is a transformative figure.

She said the Republican Party/the conservative movement needed a transformative figure....to take us away from the dangerous veering towards elitism...where my party was going...where the donors had outsized authority, somebody who was a messenger with a message that people felt spoke to them that was resonant and relevant to them, the forgotten man, the forgotten woman.

Donald Trump has reformed the Republican party into one which values the worker and that’s liberating.

It is my view that he will be a transformative President. He will have a positive impact on millions of Americans almost immediately. This is a guy in a rush to do great things. Have seen what he will be like from what he has tone during the transition...and she has seen someone who is very steadfast, is very loyal, is very focused and engaged, very curious to learn more at every turn - and he’s a guy who is brilliant and knows a lot about many things already....and all that’s why he won’t lose his way.

You go back to what are his motivators for running for President. They are not the usual motivators for many people in politics such as power, prestige, money, status, and access. His family had all of that. He has sacrificed a great deal of all of that to run and serve as President. What inspired him and motivates him from the beginning will serve him very well as he takes on a roll to be steadfast and loyal and to perform at the high octane level as he has promised.
