CNN ^ | 1/13/17 | Stephen Collinson and Manu Raju

Marco Rubio is back in the thick of it.

The Florida Republican, who reversed his decision to quit the Senate after his losing the GOP presidential nomination, suddenly finds himself at the center of the political intrigue swirling around Donald Trump's nascent administration.

Rubio's tough questioning Wednesday of Rex Tillerson, Trump's pick for secretary of state, and unresolved doubts about the former ExxonMobil chief's nomination, present him with a set of provocative political choices.

Little Rubio had no problem voting for John Kerry as Secretary of State. If he does not vote for Rex he is a real douchebag.

He's a "real douchebag" regardless of how he votes.

You got that right, once they've been inaugurated into “the club”, it's pretty much a lifetime sinecure. We in Mississippi know that to our deep chagrin. Haley Barbour and Co used every dirty trick in the book, and did it openly, in order to prevent a true conservative, Chris McDaniel, from throwing a monkey wrench into their good ole boys’ works. They had no shame, and no fear, in letting it be seen to what depths of the sewer they would descend, such as paying black ‘rat pastors to call McDaniel a racist. All to prop up a senile old fool, Thad Cochran, but he was “one of them”, and in on their gravy train for many years.

I have recently noticed just how many Mississippian Republicans have turned out to be party over principle-Cochran, Trent Lott, Barbour-and that's not counting leftist morons like Ray Mabus, who has done a great job of socially engineering the Navy, and weakening it. It just goes to show that the RINO rot is everywhere, even in a staunchly conservative state like MS.

Trent Lott doesn't even bother to hide his disdain for conservatives and his desire to crush and silence us, now that he's been kicked out of the club and doesn't have to pay lip service to conservative principles anymore.

The majority of the USA voted for Mr. Trump
and not the soap-suds queen Marco Rubio,
who —by his little girl antics— has just made
enemies from coast to coast.

Marco, Johnny M, Lindsey G.... all wanted to be president, and the voters didn’t want them... Get over it you fools...

Liddle Marco will NOT be the deciding factor. He will be whipped into shape.

We had to nominate Rubio for Senate to keep the seat in FL (it’s sad, but a more patriotic and honorable conservative would have lost the state). This is the price we chose to pay for a Senate majority. I hope in six years we will be able to afford the risk of dumping that petty, little man.

So true. Only voted for him here in Fla for just that reason

Let's face it. Nine times of out ten (at least in a general election), we don't vote FOR anyone. We vote against somebody. Trump was my first vote in a general election (President or Senate) in a long time when I actually somewhat liked the candidate I was voting for, as opposed to just despising him slightly less than his opponent.

A well-oiled political machine makes it all but impossible for an outsider challenging an incumbent to wage a successful campaign. Any opponent will be denied access to funds and, equally importantly, to the media outlets who serve as party mouthpieces.

The only reason Trump was able to take on the GOP establishment was the fact that he was self-funding the primaries and a media celebrity that couldn't be ignored.

Great post. All is not well with the Democrats. Trump won this election with the votes of a number of disaffected Democrats from the midwest. White working class people are starting to realize the Democrats are waging a war on them. Hispanics are not gonna keep sitting idly by and let whites and blacks control the power in that party. If the performances of Cory Booker and Kamala Harris during these Trump cabinet confirmation hearings are any indication it shows the party’s bench of presidential prospects are like the direction of the future of the Cleveland Browns: they’re gonna be bad for a long time. This is politics and anything can happen in a short time and we have wimps on the GOP side, but this is the weakest I’ve seen the Democrat Party in my lifetime. Let’s hope their deterioration continues. It will benefit America greatly to have a weakened Democrat Party.

I was hoping that someone would ask Marco the very same question, "So, Marco, you're telling us that in your opinion John Kerry was acceptable as Secretary of State but Rex Tillerson is not?"

His work with McCain and Graham in arming terrorists in Libya is likely to end his career soon anyway.

It’s not full Senate confirmation to be worried about; I agree with you that there will be some Dems that vote for Tillerson. The problem is in committee where Pubs have only a one vote edge and the Dems are all far left libs or enviro radicals. Trump needs Rubio’s vote there And very likely won’t get it.

Losing respect for Rubio if he acts like this. Tillerson is well qualified for the role, mountains above Lurch, and would be a great Secretary for the US.

He voted for Kerry. I don’t know how he can justify voting against Tillerson when he voted for Mr Stolen Honor. He will look like a petty little fool.
