The Senate is already rolling back President Barack Obamas legacy. It passed the continuing resolution, S. Con.Res. 3, that tears away the fees, taxes and subsidies from the 201o Patient Protection and Affordable Cart Act, Obamacare, shortly after 1:25 Thursday morning, 51-to-48.
All Republicans, except for Sen. Rand Paul (R.-KY), voted for the resolution. Paul criticized the budget resolution for not addressing the federal debt and for not having a companion replacement bill. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D.-CA), who is recovering from a scheduled medical procedure was absent from the chamber.
As senators waited for their names to be called by the clerk, Paul approached the clerks desk from side and whispered: No.
All Democrats and the two Independents who caucus with Democrats voted against the resolution.
Soon after they voted, virtually all Republicans left the floor. Among the handful staying behind were Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R.-KY) and Majority Whip John Cornyn (R.-Texas), along with Sen. John R. Thune (R.-S.D.), Sen. Roy Blunt (R.-MO) in the front. McConnell sat quietly at his desk, but Cornyn stood tall in the well watching the votes come in.
All of the Democrats did not respond with their names were called off and they sat glumly with their armed crossed or their chins resting on their hand. When the Republicans were done, led by Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D.-N.Y.), each Democrat attempted to make remarks with their vote.
The presiding officer, Sen. Cory Gardner (R.-CO) repeatedly ruled the Democrats out of order: Debate is not in order during a vote.
If Gardner was slow to start rapping the palm-held ivory gavel, Cornyn would say in a stern voice: Point of order.

This:
this bill adds 10 trillion dollars of debt
is not. We need to quit ignoring the uncontrolled national debt.
If it shows up on the President's desk after 20JAN2017, TRUMP has to sign it.
One of them is the execrable Joe Manchin. That man must be retired from the Senate. He's a disgrace to the Great State of West Virginia.
They bloody well better be REDUCED.
Would be even funnier if Trump ends up vetoing it because of all the debt included in the CR.
Could make for some pretty interesting picture caption opportunities on the house floor... “Trump did what???”
Don’t you think it’s time to start supporting Trump instead of venting?
Depends. Not when Newt and the Contract with America folks did their supply side magic. Now we have CWAII with Trump to sign.
It’s gonna be way worse for them. Because Trump isn’t going to take any SH#T from anyone. After I saw him all but call that CNN reporter a liar at a live press conference I knew the sh#t is on for real and woe be to any anti-American interest.
The issue with Obamacare was the cure was worse then the problem. Getting rid of it and just going back just puts it back to the beginning and provide the Dem's with an issue to run on.
Repeal and Replace
I think anyone receiving medicaid needs to be mandated to maintain $500 in a healthcare savings account at all times and this money should be used to pay for non-emergency healthcare services provided by the ER, the urgent care center, or the EMS. EMTALA has led to widespread fraud, waste, and abuse in the ER which impacts costs throughout the rest of the hospital. That cost gets passed onto consumers and healthcare employees.
Also, it is not uncommon to have individuals visiting the ER 3,4,5 times a month and they all want the same thing-opiates and they all lie and pretend like they have something seriously wrong and get million dollar workups that they will never pay for and that financial loss gets passed along to legitimate consumers and hospital employees. There needs to be a mechanism in place to punish these people for their fraud and to prevent it from occurring. Fraud is costing billions of dollars.
Ultimately, the solution can not be more government or more taxes. That solution has to be rejected. The ultimate solution has to be more good paying jobs and control of fraud. Personally, I'm not at all interested in hearing about any other solutions.
What I’d like to see them do is to pay back all those people they forced to pay fines for NOT signing up for that atrocity.
I know people who paid the fines because it was cheaper than health insurance they didn’t want.
That’s just WRONG and they should never have been forced to pay to keep themselves out of jail to begin with.
All that money they paid for getting NOTHING in return.
Doesnt obama have to sign it? And, will he?
No, this is the new Congress with people elected in November. Things overlap a bit inside the beltway.
Obamacare - No Republican vote approved its enactment, no Democrat vote approved its demise.
I’m surprised that they didn’t pull a stunt like the Wisconsin democrats did and all run off to Cuba...
In response to your question, I’m complaining because Rand Paul introduced a bill that would balance the budget in 5 years with the same anti obamacare provisions. Only 14 senators voted for it. I see a lot of conservatives reacting by saying Trump will fix this. We should fix congress (check and balances) instead of relying on one person.

Thank God Obamacare is being repealed and we can start getting sick on our own terms again.
You want dramatics? That would be the ultimate take-charge move, signing this bill into law at the inaugeration. The Libs wouldn’t know what to do.
