Why some Philly women are clamoring for contraception before Inauguration Day by Sarah Horvath, M.D. Twitter icon @phillyhealthsci
As long as its before the inauguration.
Anytime before the new Congress takes over.
Before Obama leaves office
Women are frantically calling our Philadelphia contraceptive clinic to get their IUDs, implants and sterilizations before Jan. 20. It used to be that women scheduled contraception around life events weddings, desired number of children, education and career goals. Now they are scheduling appointments around the congressional calendar. They fear that a new administration will take away their contraceptive coverage. And for good reason.
Contraception is used by 99 percent of women in the U.S. at some point in their reproductive lives, regardless of race, religion or state of residence. Use of contraception allowed women to participate more fully in the workforce and to plan their families. Since the passage of the contraceptive mandate in 2011 as an essential health benefit in the Affordable Care Act (the ACA or Obamacare), women have had the opportunity to choose the type of birth control that was best for them without having to consider cost. However, the Republican-controlled Congress has made the repeal of the ACA a priority during the next few weeks. While that law may be phased out over a period of years, the contraceptive mandate risks being repealed much sooner and that is bad for everyone.

I suspect most of them, you wouldn’t want to have sex with, anyway.
Tagline
OK I almost spewed iced tea all over my monitor..and struggled to chuckle silently (at work, doncha know).
Good one.
It’s money well spent to keep such mentally deficient people from spawning.
I’m still trying to figure out how contraceptives got to be an issue. And why is it a women’s issue?? Let “who’s your daddy” pay for it.
Good grief. What did women do about contraception back when insurance didn’t cover it? Maybe a sterilization would strain someone’s budget, so they need to buy what they can afford. I’m sure most of them can afford a box of condoms. Keep them in the nightstand, and throw a few in the purse in case the mood strikes when they are away from home. If their paramours refuse to use them, then no tickee, no washee.
I need a new car. I would like a Mercedes-Benz. I can’t afford a Mercedes-Benz, so I think there should be a government program that will pay for it for me so I won’t have to settle for a low-end Chevy or something.
Exactly. I smell a hoax.
I thought they were planning to have sex like it was the end of the world. But no, they just are afraid they won’t be able to get freebies from Trump.
quick! get my Obama phone and call me in a prescription for my $15 free pregnancy pills before the evil Republicans make me have to pay for it!
lol
They are loathe to pay the $20-30 a month, so the rest of us should front it for them so they can behave as they wish. Funny, though how the ones who whine most about birth control and abortion tend to be those who are least likely to need it. (cue Trigglypuff)
These women(?) should be, if they have to, copulating with men that have substance to provide for the necessities!
Get your womb out of MY wallet!
That's a plan.
Contraception costs far less than most monthly cell phone bills, but I bet 98% of these women who are worried about free contraceptives have cell phones. Or: don’t go to that crappy Hollywood movie ($20-40 for ticket, drink, and popcorn), and pay for your own contraceptives.
Just as well .. militant loons shouldn’t breed anyway.
Ghost abortions: the untold cost of abortions since Roe v. Wade. The human cost of abortion is undeniable. Pro-Life advocates often note the number of preborn babies killed since the 1973 legalization of abortion. The sum is a staggering 58 million, and the number continues to grow.
AND Not ONE MAN had a say in it heh heh The suffragettes and Margaret Sanger would be Proud of You,
1 MAO ZEDONG. China (1949-76) Regime Communist Victims 60 million. China’s so-called ‘Great Helmsman’ was in fact the greatest mass murderer in history. ...
2 JOSEPH STALIN. Soviet Union (1929-53) Regime Communist Victims 40 million. ...
3 ADOLF HITLER. Germany (1933-45) Regime Nazi dictatorship Victims 30 million.
Reminds me of how urgently I felt right after the 2012 election to go out and buy an AR-15 at a fairly high price because I believed the signals of the time saying it could be my last chance to own one. I don’t regret doing so for one second. The the ammo shortages.
I did not read the article, so I have no idea why snowflakes sense the pill might be in short supply, but I do appreciate the karma of it all.
