On its face, this seems like a terrible appointment by Trump. The position is too important to turn it over to an incumbent.
As bad as the VA situation was before he was placed, would it not make sense that Obama would have wanted to get a name in there, whether he would have any tangible effect at all, that would have given the illusion he picked somebody with credibility. It is just he was most likely given a mushroom (kept in the dark and constantly fed BS) office as a placeholder and a name to try and deflect the mountain of horrible PR.
He got confirmed in 2015 by the dems so what are they to do when they have to confirm him for the VA. Pull a “booker”? LOL.
Also, Pres Elect Trump can fire him if he does not fix the VA.
